Lycurgus.jpg(162 × 216 pixels, file size: 11 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description Drawing of a bust of Lycurgus, the legendary lawgiver of ancient Sparta (late ninth century BC), from Great Men and Famous Women (1894).[1] The drawing is based on the statue known as the "So-called Lycurgus or Lysias" in the Vatican Museums, although its identification with Lycurgus or Lysias is a modern one; the statue itself is unlabeled.
