Submission deadline: Error: first parameter cannot be parsed as a date or time.! Publication scheduled for late Wednesday, Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Issue/Next, 2016. Once all tasks are complete, the publication manager will complete the publication process.
Weekly schedule
Our current standard weekly schedule:
Thursday–Sunday: start. Start all pages that are to be included in the next edition, either on-wiki or in Google Docs.
Monday: draft. A rough outline of topics to be covered should be in place by the middle of Monday, so that if a regular reporter is unavailable, the editor can find a replacement for that week.
Tuesday, early Wednesday: mature versions. Aim to have reasonably mature drafts of all pages for comments by the managing editors, fellow journalists, and other interested editors.
Wednesday: finish! Last-minute tweaks and copy-editors go through the drafts; publication in the evening.
Current discussion
Ideas for Signpost features can be pitched and discussed by any interested parties here. Items should be listed directly at the opinion desk or the special desk, submissions from which are automatically transcluded here.
From the opinion desk
The following proposals have been transcluded from the opinion desk.
WikiProject Spoken Wikipedia is looking for people who are interested in helping out in our project to get our articles into an audio format that can be used for any number of uses including, but not limited to, visually impaired or people who just prefer to listen to the article instead of reading it for whatever reason they choose. We are also in need of people who speak other languages so that the proper pronunciation of words can be properly spoken into the audio file by the editors.
Paused Solicited interviewees at the talk page some time ago, but got no responses. Feel free to send me a message if anyone wants to participate in a potential interview. 🐶 EpicPupper(he/him | talk)21:53, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The good volunteers of WikiProject Unreferenced articles are heroically slogging through over 143,000 unreferenced articles with a backlog dating back to January 2007 (as of writing January 2007 has 284 unreferenced articles). The project is semi-active which is shocking given the importance of well-referenced information to Wikipedia's overall purpose. There has been a boost in activity since this proposal was posted and we are trying to keep the momentum going. I have personally finished the December 2007 and July 2007 categories (incredibly satisfying) and would like to raise as much awareness as possible so the project could come back to fully active status and we would start working through this backlog in a more systematic fashion. If there is any interest in helping, please reach out! There is also an edit summary that can be used that links to the project to spread the word to other editors. - Kazamzam (talk) 12:26, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
WikiProject Apple Inc. has been less active in recent years, and many articles are currently stuck at C-class or below. Several articles have seen minimal updated information beyond the 2000s or early 2010s. All help is appreciated! Theknine2 (talk) 20:53, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Armbrust and all, while the Signpost segments currently show 13 April as the date, the Signpost page itself shows 14 April. Kharkiv07 will fix this discrepancy later tonight. It's because the publication process began before midnight UTC, but ended after. AndreasJN46601:18, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, Armbrust, I've noticed you don't like having the publication time in the byline. I'd prefer it if it were there, just because all the other segments have it, but if it really irks you I won't bother inserting it next week. ;) (You're right of course in that publication time is not exactly critical with FC.) Gamer, hoping for publication late evening Saturday US east-coast time. It all looks good to go, pending comments from Jayen488. Tony(talk) 11:04, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
