Notable?

[edit]

Right now[1] we have a WP:PROD saying "No presented media coverage to meet WP:N". (I didn't know that was a reason to delete. If so, wouldn't all unsourced articles be put up for WP:PROD?) I do not know if the topic is notable, but I found some sources that suggest it may be, so I am removing the WP:PROD.

  • Bite-Size Indies In Competition On Your Couch: Anderson, John. New York Times 14 Nov 2010: .14. quote "Some results have been startling. The Australian nutrition documentary "Food Matters" recently sold about 150,000 DVDs online, said Peter Broderick, a Los Angeles distribution strategist, even before it secured a distribution deal, or television broadcasts via the French media company Canal Plus. "He did it backwards," Mr. Broderick said of the director of "Food Matters," James Colquhoun. "Nobody knew who he was. But the interesting thing is, if he never made a distribution deal, he'd still be fine. The biggest difference today is how people think about their audience."
  • Food Matters - a lot more than drugs: Brownstein, Bill. The Gazette [Montreal, Que] 19 Sep 2008: .1. -- this article is a lazy (author says "I'm no doctor ... so I can't vouch for the validity of the facts put forward") but skeptical review with 744 words
  • Wake-up call on food quality: Croot, James. The Press [Christchurch, New Zealand] 04 Oct 2008: .4. -- A short (252 word) critical review
  • Proof's in the eating: Sumner; Bonnie. Sunday Star - Times [Wellington, New Zealand] 14 Sep 2008: .15. -- an article quoting the director extensively that is giving away 5 DVD's. Does not look indepenent of the subject
  • Organic food takes center stage at Appleton festival: Alle, Rick. Ocala Star - Banner [Ocala, Fla] 07 Jan 2010. -- "main course" served was this movie
  • bits & bytes: The Cairns Post [Cairns, Qld] 17 June 2008: 17. quote: "Australian video-streaming company Vividas has begun distributing a major documentary film via the web. They will allow viewers to watch the new doco, Food Matters, online, an eye-opening documentary looking at the increase in processed food and health issues associated with it. While it won't compete with Indiana Jones And the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull for sales, internet distribution will bring the film to interested viewers. Watch it at foodmatters.tv for $4.95."
  • (Does not demonstrate notability and not a RS for the article topic, just its showing) Community Briefs: Anonymous. Times News [Hendersonville, N.C] 12 Nov 2008. quote full of promotion: "Nutrition film to be presented COLUMBUS Join Beneficial Foods and Adawehi Institute for this free, entertaining, 80-minute documentary, Food Matters, at 7 p.m. Friday. Become more informed about the natural choices you have for improving your health. In the movie Food Matters, leading, worldwide authorities on nutrition and natural healing reveal a growing body of scientific evidence of the effectiveness of nutritional therapy. Because I found these sources I figure this topic might be notable, so I'm removing the prod. Jesanj (talk) 14:58, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good work...any chance you could provide the weblinks to these articles? These are exactly the type of thing needed for WP:N. — Scientizzle 19:46, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I may wash my hands of this article, FYI. Some of them I bet are off-line. I found them through a Proquest database. NYT should pop up on google though. Jesanj (talk) 21:10, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Found a couple links. — Scientizzle 21:19, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
More Importantly, I'm concerned that we are not discussing the controversial claims made in the film.

Copyvio issues

[edit]

Unfortunately, this article had masses of copyvio, that came out when I started checking the sources to prepare to improve it, post-AfD. I shan't object to its recreation (with appropriate balancing of the fringe claims), of course, but... this is unusual. Adam Cuerden (talk) 04:10, 9 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The bulk of the article text was derived from a series of cut & paste edits from IMDB, made by an anonymous IP editor in February 2015. At the time the article was deleted a day ago, the majority of the article's text – a summary of the film's content – was still word-for-word identical. (To add insult to injury, that same section of the article had borne an unresolved, ignored cleanup tag since March 2015.) TenOfAllTrades(talk) 01:32, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
