Missing Source for Rollback

[edit]

Dear user Frost, you recently rolled back an edit of the article Hasan Akhund without providing a reliable source for the rollback. Please make sure to always include reliable sources before re-adding removed controversial claims to an article, for example stating that a terrorist is the Prime Minister of a state. Reliable sources include election results published by established and objective media outlets, statements from legitimate government officials or international organizations such as the UN.

Thank you very much for your contribution. 2A02:3037:201:D88D:A114:2BF4:7E24:46B3 (talk) 17:55, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi Ae245. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Malinaccier (talk) 21:30, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Isaac Mabaya has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable. Fails GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Wikipedia Jan Ke Tami (talk) 04:37, 22 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please undo that move. It was originally put through as uncontroversial when it definitely should have gone through the WP:RM process. Furthermore, the finals before 1993 were not under the UEFA Champions League name, similar to how the List of UEFA Cup and Europa League finals includes finals prior to 2010. Finally, why did you make an edit to List of European Cup and UEFA Champions League finals? I can only assume it was a deliberate attempt to prevent the article from being moved back. – PeeJay 15:17, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the page because it was unsatisfying to see the pleonasm in using two names of the same competition and it also makes it seem like they're two different competitions, which is even more unsatisfying. When I requested the technical move, someone permitted it and they didn't think it was controversial when they performed the move on my behalf. Ae245 (talk) 11:59, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Footballer categories

[edit]

Hello. I think you're mistaken about only including players in a club category if they played at senior level. The question's been raised several times over the years (see discussions from Feb 2009, Apr 2009, May 2009, Jun 2009, Nov 2017, Jan 2018, Sep 2019, Sep 2022, some more constructive than others...) but there's never been consensus for removal of the club category from players who had a genuine connection with the club (Mr Newell was at Liverpool from age 12 to 18) but didn't appear for the first team. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:41, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the users seem to agree on removing the category for youth players in the September 2022 discussion. Ae245 (talk) 03:40, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WestNet Inc., deleted in progress

[edit]

WestNet Inc., Hi there how are you, could you please undelete it ? It was still in progress and we did our est to follow guidleines.. I appreciate your concerns regarding the article on WestNet Inc. I understand that the initial draft may have come across as promotional, but I am committed to revising and improving the article to ensure it meets Wikipedia's standards. WestNet Inc. is a notable company with a significant history in the telecommunications industry. It has been involved in pioneering the deployment of Wi-Fi networks in Calgary and played a crucial role during emergencies such as the 2013 Alberta floods by providing essential internet access through their Mobile HotSpot Vehicles. Additionally, in 2020, WestNet Inc. became a major supplier of medical masks during the global pandemic, highlighting its contributions to public health and safety. I have gathered reliable sources and am currently working on adding comprehensive information to the article, including citations from independent sources to establish the company's notability. Could you please allow me some time to make the necessary improvements? I am dedicated to ensuring that the article adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. Thank you for your understanding. Surprised with a user requesting a speedy deletion

[edit]

Good evening, Ae245. Currently an article I wrote is being nominated for speedy deletion. OK, maybe I did not write it correctly, or whatever. But I am surprised with a fact: there is the user:CarmenNozal64, who seems to have appeared on Wikipedia with the only purpose of contesting this article (and another related to it). Further, CarmenNozal64 placed not one, but three templates requesting deletion, including one "as hoax" (which I consider excessive). And I would like to have some extra time to edit/rewrite. Please, could you be so kind and take a look at it? Thanks in advance. Regards, Fadesga (talk) 22:33, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My most cordial greeting, the reason why I placed the promotional ad and deleted the page is because according to what I researched on Google about "Carlos Javier Jarquin" it is objectively seen that he is not a relevant and encyclopedic character, logically, the article is promotional , and I refer to the following tests:
1. The media in which Jarquin collaborates advertise his "works" with excessive promotional language.
2. All articles published in virtual media about Jarquin are made by friends of Jarquin (see Google)
3. Jarquin's books are self-published by Amazon.
4. Holding a virtual event on poetry is not considered of encyclopedic relevance, and then if so, can everyone who makes a couple of self-publications on Amazon and disseminates them in virtual media where they collaborate already appear on Wikipedia? I think that goes against Wikipedia's relevance principles.
5. Please read the discussion about the article, there I highlight an investigation that I did where the same user who created the article "Carlos Javier Jarquin" is a poet and is a friend of Jarquin and has been published by him in the media where he collaborates (you can search on Google).
In short, I do not do it with the intention of affecting Jarquin or anyone but with the intention of maintaining that encyclopedic principle of Wikipedia. If the person who created the article wants a page for his friend, he can make a web page without necessarily having to host his friend's biography on Wikipedia.
Kind regards. CarmenNozal64 (talk) 22:55, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decision regarding acceptance of Draft:Damien Haas

[edit]

Good evening,

I would ask that you reconsider your view that Draft:Damien Haas is ready for mainspace. You appear to have added multiple sources to establish the inclusion of biographical details that are very clearly not suitable for such use, namely "thebiography.org" (which is clearly a low-grade SEO "celeb facts" site with poor use of grammar) and "pop.inquirer.net" (also a low-grade site that also fails on basic spelling and grammar). Beyond that there are basically no sources to demonstrate notability that have been presented and therefore should not be moved into mainspace until such a time it has been established. Rambling Rambler (talk) 23:32, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I assumed the subject passes the criteria for actors/entertainers by having significant roles in multiple notable films/projects, and therefore is likely to be notable. But yes, I should've considered the suitability of the sources more carefully. I will not accept the draft. Ae245 (talk) 07:33, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for reconsidering. On those specific criteria they are still in addition to the basic one of having to have enough RS to justify inclusion. Haas' work is relatively broad but seems lacking in major notable roles that would come with the coverage to justify an article on him at present. Page mover granted

[edit]

Hello, Ae245. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Did you notice the comments about capitalization? — BarrelProof (talk) 06:15, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I looked it up on Google and found that many sources refer to it in the capitalized form. Ae245 (talk) 06:21, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Two people commented in the RM to say it should be in sentence case, and two other people later used the phrase in lowercase in their comments (and a fifth person used lowercase in a comment before people explicitly started talking about lowercase in their comments). No one said they disagreed with using lowercase. If you want to close the discussion with a different conclusion, I suggest that your closing statement should at least mention that the idea was considered. I suggest to also consider the possibility that your closure with a different outcome looks like a WP:SUPERVOTE. In the discussion, no one talked about whether there are many sources that refer to it in the capitalized form or not. — BarrelProof (talk) 08:02, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't clear that there's a consensus for moving to the lowercase name, as only two people explicitly endorsed it, and while some of the others did refer to the subject in that way, I don't think it necessarily confirmed their support for that style, as I presumed the one proposed by the requester was the one supported by default. I searched for the topic to confirm the style used more by sources to make the closure in accordance with the closing instructions, not to give the impression I was making a super vote. I've added a note in my closing summary. Ae245 (talk) 12:23, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for adding the clarifying commentary. — BarrelProof (talk) 13:45, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

JD Vance

[edit]

Hi Frost

Just a query about your close at [1]... you stated that the majority were "arguing that MOS:BIOEXCEPT is satisfied and the name is used most commonly by sources". However, it is pretty much objective fact that MOS:BIOEXCEPT is not met. The guideline requires that two conditions be met. The first is that "the person has clearly declared and consistently used a preferred exceptional style for their own name" (emphasis mine). Nowhere in the discussion was it shown that Vance has clearly declared a preference, and indeed I don't think he ever has. Furthermore, it's not the case that almost every source styles it without a period, because a good number also use spaced or unspaced periods - [2][3][4] All-in-all, despite a 2/3 majority being in favour of the move, I think that the conditions for creating a carve-out from our standard guidelines are emphatically not met. According to the guidelines this move cannot go ahead. Please could you re-visit the close.  — Amakuru (talk) 20:03, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[5][6] seem to indicate a clearly declared preference, in my opinion, and they were brought up in the discussion. Vance's social media accounts also use JD, while the use of J. D. is lessening among sources. Frost 04:46, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just tried to change the article title of "Euphoria Morning" to "Euphoria Mourning" as that was the actual name of the album the article discusses (the article itself says this, in fact, so it's for sure an accurate change). Hey Frost, whilst I fully agree that we need peer-reviewed, high quality sources for Wikipedia, I should highlight that this rapper/artist "ZillaKami" is very low-tier, low calibre and niche in the music industry and he is rarely covered by reputable news outlets now so please refer to the current sources I've provided for his recent sexual misconduct allegations involving minors, as they're all factual and in-depth. I would not be writing lengthy and fake sections on Wikipedia about such a serious topic so please do not just disregard my work and quickly remove it because it does not contain the type of source material you want because let's face it - not all information in the world is derived from a news outlet or world class publication. In cases of musical artists in the underground such as ZillaKami, it often comes from within and from themselves and we need still update their pages based on what is provided to us. So please, do not delete my work and try to indirectly hide his controversial stints because that's just doing everyone a disservice and in fact, doing ZillaKami a service. Thank you and best wishes buddy. 2001:56A:F471:5500:252D:ABF4:E374:4638 (talk) 18:14, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Anthony Ammirati

[edit]

Anthony Ammirati is a French pole vaulter of Italian descent. According to 23 and me, the name comes from the North/central region of Italy and means "commander" in Italian. 75.84.219.114 (talk) 18:39, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ignoring "that" user

[edit]

Hey there, I fell into the trap of reverting the user that keeps creating accounts. I've reported all of the accounts i could find at AIV, but they'll probably come back now you've done it again lol :) -REDACTED403 (talk) 12:19, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It should be easy to catch! Their usernames get shorter each time. Frost 12:27, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

weird edit

[edit]

with this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Too_Clever_by_Half&diff=1239278661&oldid=1239278600 you removed all reference to the more common English language item of the name to an article about a russian translation that only sometimes uses that name, in fact the "Too Clever By Half" alternate name isnt even mentioned anywhere in that article! if the article is gong to be a redirect, it should redirect to John Lang's biblography.67.220.13.43 (talk) 19:15, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're right that it shouldn't be redirected to the current title, but I'm not sure about redirecting it to John Lang. Since there are other uses for this title, maybe a disambiguation page should be there instead. I'll try to create one. Frost 03:51, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted edit??

[edit]

Made an edit to the Arthur murray page to replace Parramatta studio and webpage (which is no longer in operation) and replaced of with that of Arthur Murray Sydney www.learntodance.com.au (one of Australia's oldest and longest running Arthur Murray studios). Why would this be deemed inappropriate? Sebastian.potter.1975 (talk) 14:15, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't sure if the website is legitimate. Could you provide a source confirming Arthur Murray's link to it? Frost 14:22, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Reed (surname), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tyler Reed. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Frozen

[edit]

While I agree that Talk:Frozen (2013 film)#Requested move 2 August 2024 had a consensus not to move the 2013 film to the base name I'm not sure there was a consensus for making Freezing primary since it was noted that the film gets 20x the views as the physical property article. Might it not be better to open a new RM at the DAB page to see if there is a consensus for making the Freezing article primary, thanks. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:49, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I shouldn't have said "strong support" for the redirect but I still think there's a consensus for it. However, since there weren't many people weighing in about that, I think a new RM wouldn't be a problem. So go ahead. Frost 07:21, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very much in agreement with User:Crouch, Swale. There was some support for the idea of "Frozen" being a primary redirect to "Freezing", but not nearly enough to justify a move without a separate discussion on the issue. (Incidentally, did you notice that the three IP addresses (1; 2; 3) opposing the proposed move all geolocate to Indonesia?)
In the circumstances, would you consider reverting the change and opening a separate move request yourself? Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 14:59, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
People were clearly devided on if the concept or 2013 film were primary even though most thought that there was no primary topic. If the concept should be primary I think there should be a new RM on the DAB page for that which would be easier to assess consensus for. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:42, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jean-de-Nivelle I did consider that fact about the IPs. In this situation, it seems best to gain a strong consensus so I will revert the move and update my close to 'no consensus' for the disambiguation page, to make way for a new RM. @Crouch, Swale. Frost 06:27, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
