April 2013[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Jeju Olle Trail has been reverted.
Your edit here to Jeju Olle Trail was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.facebook.com/TRAILJEJUOLLE) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Non-free rationale for File:Jejuolletraillogo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Jejuolletraillogo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:08, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon Your addition to Jeju Olle Trail has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text, or images borrowed from other websites, or printed material without a verifiable license; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. -- Diannaa (talk) 17:35, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Diannaa. I am an Englis language volunteer for Jeju Olle Trail and I am trying my best to update their English-language Wikipedia. I have read Wikipedia for many years, but until now I have never really actually edited an entry. I'm sorry our logo caused such a hoo-har with copyright. I looked at the Coca Cola page on Wikipedia and that has the company's logo. How can I upload the Jeju Olle Trail logo without violating Wikipedia's TOS. Any guidance through the process would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Diannaa. The reason the logo was deleted is that it did not have an appropriate rationale for its use here. In order to host copyrighted images such as corporate logos, Wikipedia needs to show that such images are being used in a legally appropriate manner. There are two scenarios in which a logo can be uploaded to Wikipedia: firstly if it is so simple as to be beyond the scope of copyright (a company's name in a readily-available font, for example, would not constitute a copyrightable image) or secondly, if no other image would be appropriate to illustrate the article, and if the other fair use requirements are met. In the case of the "olle" logo (the one with the arrows for "L"s), the image is definitely not simple enough to be uncopyrighted, so fair use would have to apply.
To upload the image, you will need to go to the File Upload Wizard and follow the directions there, filling in all of the required information to demonstrate that the image meets all of the fair use criteria. When the file is uploaded, an appropriate rationale will be placed on the page automatically. Note that you can't upload the image to Wikimedia Commons (which only accepts free files). Hope this helps. Yunshui  13:22, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Jeju Olle Trail may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • villages, beaches, farms and forests. Many routes encompass some of the island's 368 [[oreum]]s (low parasitic volcanoes and historical sites dating from ancient times through to the modern era.

Hi Dianna~ ah, that's why the text was removed. Now it is clear. I'll make sure any further entries are re-written in an appropriate manner. Thank you.

License tagging for File:Jeju-olle-trail-waymarker-ribbons.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jeju-olle-trail-waymarker-ribbons.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:05, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Twsx. I noticed that you recently removed some content from File:Jeju-olle-trail-waymarker-ribbons.JPG, with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~ twsx | talkcont | ~ 09:17, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Promotion-only account[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
