Deletion of Nicholas Tate page on 2 June

[edit]

Puzzled by this deletion. Nicholas Tate has held important posts that are of historical and continuing interest, continues to publish and lecture extensively and people are likely to look for his Wikipedia entry. He did not make the page and does not use it for publicity. The two criteria cited - self-promotion and importance - do not seem to apply. The page omits much information about his CV and probably needs updating. Keckskemet (talk) 00:24, 7 August 2024 (UTC) NYCFurlong (talk) 02:45, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@NYCFurlong and Keckskemet: the page Nicholas Tate is a disambiguation page with two extant articles, and neither of you have any article of a similar name in your contribution history, so no idea what you are talking about here, please give correct name of deleted page so I can investigate Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:46, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do not have a reference to the Nicholas Tate page. It has been removed altogether. This 'Nicholas Tate' was Chief Executive of two quangos, Headmaster of Winchester College and Director-General of The International School of Geneva. I argued against the grounds given for its removal. Keckskemet 146.198.169.146 (talk) 09:01, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keckskemet, please don't edit when logged out, that's not good practice. If you don't know the name of the article, I can't help you, I'm not prepared to search through hundreds of edits Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:46, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The title of the article that has been removed altogether within the last month of so was 'Nicholas Tate'. I have no other reference and have been unable to find how I might locate it in the deletion log. If you can advise me as to how I might do this and best contest the deletion I should be most grateful. Keckskemet :::::Keckskemet (talk) 14:14, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keckskemet, please don't create a new heading for each message in the same thread. I've found the text now. The text was completely unreferenced, and had been tagged for deletion as promotional in tone and not meeting the notability guideline for academics. You said He did not make the page and does not use it for publicity. but how do you know he didn't write the page? Either way, we do not accept unreferenced biographies of living people. If someone wants to write an article properly referenced to independent verifiable sources, and with a neutral tone, there is nothing to stop them Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:09, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This entry has been on Wikipedia for over 20 years and put up at a time when the subject for 6 years was the chief adviser to the Secretary of State for Education and head of two major quangos. The subject did not write it and does not use it for publicity (Keckskemet is the subject). He does not need to use it as he is well known in the educational world. The objection to the removal is to the arbitrariness of a decision to wipe out a piece of recent educational history without an opportunity to find out why in detail the decision was made or to object. The matter is not of sufficient importance to me to have to create a new page but I would like the opportunity to ask for an undeletion. If you are not able to help me have this considered I should be grateful for advice as to how I might do so. Thank you for your patience. Keckskemet Keckskemet (talk) 15:38, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keckskemet, Please don't create a new heading for each message in the same thread. It has never had any references, so it's junk that survived for a long time. You've said again The subject did not write it and does not use it for publicity (Keckskemet is the subject). He does not need to use it... How do you know he didn't write it? You have an obvious conflict of interest, please don't write about yourself, your friends, colleagues or relatives. I think before we consider any restoration as a draft, you need to assure me that you can fully reference the text with independent verifiable sources. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. You can edit with a COI, but you must be transparent about your interest in this topic Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:50, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Jimfbleak, I hope this message finds you well.

I recently noticed that the article I created about Ahmad Natour, a distinguished Sharia Judge and former Chief Justice, was deleted on the grounds that it was promotional in nature. I understand the importance of adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines on neutrality and notability, and I sincerely apologize if the initial version of the article did not meet these standards.

I am writing to kindly request the temporary restoration of the article so that I may have the opportunity to revise and improve it according to Wikipedia's content policies. My intention is to create a balanced and informative entry that highlights Mr. Natour's significant contributions to the judiciary, while ensuring that the article is neutral and properly sourced.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration. I look forward to your response and any guidance you can provide on how to better align the content with Wikipedia's standards.

Create protection of Murugavel

[edit]

Hello! You create protected the title Murugavel due to repeated recreation. While attempting to AfC accept a relatively uncontroversial surname list at Draft:Murugavel, I ran into this page protection. If possible, please remove the create protection so that this draft can be accepted. Thank you! Garsh (talk) 18:31, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Garsh, Done Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:07, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jimfbleak,

I hope you find this message as well. A few minutes ago, I was published above my article, and I think it was removed by you because it violated "Unambiguous advertising or promotion: junk references." I am writing to kindly request the temporary restoration of the article so I can re-fix those references correctly. I think the issue was that I added incomplete references, right? Can I get my article back as a draft again? because I want to create it the right way!

Please, I hope you will understand and consider this matter!

[edit]

Can you please refer to the language that is non-neutral in the article. Can you please refer to the text that is promotional. Multiple independent reliable, published sources have been provided to demonstrate neutrality and notability. Thanks ~~~~Batesmound Batesmound (talk) 07:38, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pawan Khera

[edit]

Hi . Can you please explain, why the page Pawan Khera got deleted !Pritiranjan Tripathy (talk) 07:39, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Hellohappy, even after it was cleaned up by User:Njd-de it was still pretty promotional Khera is known for his feirce style of debating on news channels... a social media favourite Slayer of opponents in live debates. and the nine (originally 11) supposed refs for a single paragraph are just link spam for sources interviewing or quoting him Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:18, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Hellohappy reping Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:19, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
HI . I fail to find any promotional content in what was written in the article . And what was written in the article was supported by proper citations . Lets not link his TV or Social Media image to this independent wikipedia article . Please help in restoring the article and let me now what all needs to improved in it . Pritiranjan Tripathy (talk) 04:34, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Hellohappy You haven't edited the article under your current user name, I'm surprised you know its contents. Do you have any connection with the now-blocked main editor? The italicised text above is from the article, not social media, I'm surprised that you consider it neutral and factual. And the "references", as I've said, are link spam and are just quoting him instead of being independent third-party sources. It won't be restored, and I;m still unclear what your interest in this article is Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:24, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think there is some confusion somewhere . I have created the article yesterday with my username Hellohappy . And I had no idea that it was created and deleted before . I am replying here only on the basis of your reply to my messages . Lets just discuss the article created by me yesterday and not to the one which was created and deleted before . I reiterate that I have no interest in the person not do I endorse what is there in the sources . The person is purely a subject of curiosity for me like the many other biographical articles I have written before in other wikipedias . Pritiranjan Tripathy (talk) 05:42, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Hellohappy OK, the link you gave me at the top of this topic was to Pawan Khera, which you have never edited, but it appears that you actually mean Pawan khera a presumably mis-capitalised title you created yesterday. I'll have look in a bit Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:21, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are right there . Please restore it with only justified and neutral content . Pritiranjan Tripathy (talk) 08:23, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Hellohappy unfortunately, that page wasn't deleted because of promotional content, but because it was a copyright violation of this page. We can't host copyright material Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:06, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please, pin point exactly what was the violation in the article ! We can remove those and keep rest, which are no violation . Pritiranjan Tripathy (talk) 09:08, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Hellohappy done, now restored at Draft:Pawan Khera Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:16, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thaks buddy. Pritiranjan Tripathy (talk) 03:50, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of the article John Ebnezar

[edit]

It appears that your deletion of the article was in undue haste. I had explained on the talk page of the article (after the deletion tag has been put) that the subject of the article was eminently notable per WP:ANYBIO and that I would try to improve the article which I have been trying to carry out for the past one hour or more. I trust that my Wiki profile and my efforts here will convince you that I am not a careless or paid editor. It is sad that you found a person who has been recognized by a country of 1.4 billion people with three of its major awards does not deserve an article in Wikipedia.--jojo@nthony (talk) 08:18, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

jojo@nthony I'll restore it, but give me a couple of hours to remove the obvious errors in referencing and external links before you start on it again Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:02, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, jojo@nthony I made these edits, I don't think there's anything particularly controversial there, but let me know if you have any queries Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:13, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Mate, it was indeed a nice job. I will check if I can find any further information, supported by reliable sources, I will add them. Thanks jojo@nthony (talk) 13:54, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
