Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert is an isolated village in the Hérault region. It's situated in the valley of the Gellone river which runs through the town, and because of its isolation it has maintained its historic state. It is a beautiful town worth spending a day or two in.
Get in

[edit]You can catch Bus #302 to Gignac from the Bus/Tram stop at Mosson, then in Gignac transfer to Bus #308 which takes you to St Guilhem. The fare is €1.60 per person.
By car
[edit]You can drive to the town but not into it. There are three main car parks around the town and possibly parking charges.
Get around
[edit]The entire town is walking streets. If you bring a car you need to leave it in one of the three car parks outside of the town and walk in (about five minutes max).
Nearby there is a famous bridge called the Pont du Diable, there is a free bus that goes to it from Saint Guilhem. You can catch it from the car park at the bottom of the town.

[edit]There are several walking trails in the hills around the town. They're clearly marked and give good views of the town.
Not far away is the Pont du Diable which is a good place to swim, kayak down the river or relax on the stony beach.
