.Gertrude is an esoteric programming language created by Gerson Kurz in 2001. It is named in honor of the American author Gertrude Stein, and programs may resemble poetry in her style, or in any mixture of styles.
A program consists of sentences in any natural language. For each sentence, the average length of its words is calculated (rounded off), and then the number of words longer than the average is divided by the number of words shorter than the average. The resulting fractions denote instructions and operands.
