Formally the Esquire Generic Gamepad Font, now The Gentlegear Gamepad Font Family updated for all major platforms!
14 Fonts that leverage everything we love about fonts (small size, scalability) and apply that to all our gameplay UI needs. Simply import the TTF files and change the font to the style and platform of your choosing.
All controls are mapped to the same characters meaning changing platform is as easy as switching out the font.
The old font will be staying on the page free to download to see if this workflow fits with your game. Note: Mapping between the old and new fonts will not be the same

Hello! Amazing work, can't wait to use those fonts in some student projects i'm working on.
Just a quick heads up, Start and Select glyphs are currently flipped in the generic and xbox font, as the left special should be the View icon rather than the hamburger Menu icon! I also wonder if it might be beneficial to increase contrast in branded icons showing which face buttons to press- for example, key 7 for "Bottom face button" is a breeze to identify in Generic Hollow, but needs more squinting to recognize in other branded hollow fonts. Maybe a third branded high contrast version keeping generic's idea of "highlighted buttons in solid black and other buttons hollowed out" might help on that regard!
Thanks again, and good luck on your current project!
please forgive me. I am really so sorry... Its Your Original Work (Please don't think bad Idea I am afraid for copyrights)?
I am mean it's your original work it's not copy other people or cartoon or TV show or movie or Anime or anything like that? Please forgive me my questions...
I can use and I can sell my game on EpicStore or itch.io or steam or any site use your model? Of course I give you credit. I promise you
Hi! I found your font really useful for the tutorials of our game, here's the link if you want to check it out! https://joulesp.itch.io/boot-camp-brawlers
HA! Awesome!
That's the first time I've seen it out in the wild, it looks good in action
Thanks for letting me know!
Hi! We are a small indie team making a game for Steam, and have purchased your font for use in tutorial messages.
Unfortunately, the font is missing some essential icons: mouse move and controller buttons (PS: circle, cross, rectangle, triangle, others: A, B, X, Y). Do you think you could add such icons?
Btw we have converted your txt list of characters into rtf/pdf with symbol preview, maybe somebody else would find it useful: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fnnlbuwb7mvl4un/IconMapping.rtf?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/nv75wck2uf0f2vg/IconMapping.pdf?dl=1
Hi there!
This font was designed to be button and console agnostic (with the exception of the specials buttons).
A new version of the font was in development (which included shared mapping for all consoles as separate fonts) however this was put on hiatus due to the increased complexity resulting in burnout from the project. I will at some point return to the newer version of the font but I cannot say with any confidence precisely when that will be.
If this is not the response you were hoping for and would like a refund, do not hesitate to ask. Otherwise all I can offer is the guide on how I put it together so that you can have a go at making your own.
- Mark
This is understandable.
Do you have that new font available somewhere, even if its incomplete? Guide would also be useful!
You can see parts of it in the devlogs of this asset but unfortunately it remains vector files and had not made transition to ttf. I will be finishing it for my own personal project but it is currently bottom of my priority list.
For the how-to, give me a few days to write it up and I will add it as a downloadable asset on this page for everyone.
PS. The PDF is a great idea and I'll make sure to do it for version 2
Hey there, Sorry for the delay but the guide has uploaded as a PDF.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Hi Dangar,
You are welcome to use the font in any project commercial or not. I'd love a credit but not its not fundamentally necessary, just let me know when it launches so I can see it out in the wild!
Thank you so much! I wish you GOOD LUCK!
You awesome person
I promise you I give you credit and supported you
I am really so gladly meeting you
I am really so sorry. It's means I can use your assets in commercial?

Dingbats usually scare me, but I like this!
such a cool font - any reason you can think of why the mapping doesn't work? i've had to fish around for the correct mapping :(
copying and pasting the tokens and then getting gamemaker to draw them, they come out completely different.
for example the mapping says '/' is face button top, but it isn't, it's face button right.
EDIT: I realized in gamemaker if i use draw_text_ext_transformed() for some reason the mapping decoheres. perhaps because of something else. anyway, nevermind all this ! :) :) <3
Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
I'm both really glad you like the asset and were able to solve the issue, thanks for sharing the solution for anyone who might run into the same issue. I cannot tell you why this happened, I have admittedly only tested the asset in unreal (as that's my engine of choice) and am not sure how it interacts with other engines.
Please don't hesitate to share you project, I'd love to see the font out in the wild
