Maintaining infrastructure was never a core competency of IT at Bob Evans Farms, makers of farm-fresh foods sold in grocery stores throughout the country, and it was never meant to be. Instead, the team focuses its efforts on projects that are valuable to the business, like automation and security. When the company was acquired by Post Holdings, their cloud efforts were accelerated and a priority was placed on finding a custom-built solution to fit their technical and cost requirements. Knowing that a migration to the cloud is a large undertaking for any company, Bob Evans leadership prioritized finding a partner to make sure the cloud journey was not only smooth in implementation but also offered agility and flexibility.
The solution needed to be able to accommodate a large VMware environment and extensive Oracle licensing. To review designs, auditing and compliance processes, and other migration prep, Expedient's technical team conducted weekly planning sessions before Bob Evans Farms was even officially a client.
Expedient provided a hybrid solution, hosting their large VMware environment in the Expedient Enterprise Cloud, Oracle databases in our private cloud, and backups and near real-time replication for disaster recovery-as-a-service to an Expedient data center in a different geographic region, which also provided ransomware mitigation and added security to their environment.
