Brokur Longneck of House Grandrock has passed away and you are his only surviving relative(s).

In his will, Brokur has bequeathed to you the cursed mines of the Long Belt, its dilapidated settlement, and the leadership of House Grandrock.

However, other dwarf houses seek to overthrow you and take control of the valuable minerals hidden deep within those cold tunnels.

To complicate matters further, most of the mines’ galleries are haunted by fire spitting demons from the underworld.

Cleanse. Rebuild. Survive.

Stoneburner is a sci-fantasy solo-friendly demon-hunting community-building tabletop role-playing game.

Inspired by the new school revolution movement, players take on the role of a group of dwarves who must assume control of a demon haunted mine, along with its accompanying settlement. Settlement which they inherited after the death of their distant relative. The game focuses on the dwarves' journey as they navigate the challenges of their new responsibilities, rebuild a new thriving community, and clear the mine of its fire spitting monsters.

WHAT FOLKS ARE SAYING...

"I wanted to say that Stoneburner is one of the most fun and approachable takes on the dungeon crawling concept that I have ever played. There is so much room to be inventive and original in a game that still has mechanical bite."
- James D'Amato - https://twitter.com | One Shot Podcast

"Merging Deep Rock Galactic, DOOM and The Expanse, Stoneburner is a crowdfunding campaign from Fari RPGs to create that I feel might be the most wholesome horror game I know of."
- Andrew Girdwood - https://www.geeknative.com/

"The impressions I had of this game in no way prepared me for what I was walking into. I knew I could look forward to tight design and good layout, but this game came with so much more. At a proposed 69 pages when complete, it’s looking like a solid game that offers a unique science-fantasy gaming experience. Do I think it’s going to be good? Yes. Am I going to support it? Yes. Absolutely."
- Graeme Barber - https://pocgamer.com"

"It’s weird to feel like a proud uncle about a game system, but seeing Breathless grow from humble beginnings into the robust RPG Stoneburner is shaping up to be, I can’t help but swell with pride. Reading this alpha copy of Stoneburner was a genuine delight. I’ve been a fan of Fari RPGs since the original Breathless launched, and the difference a year makes has been absolutely staggering. If you want an easy system with great potential for complexity, if you want to tell stories about making your way in the universe by fighting demons and striking it rich, you’re going to want to watch this space. "
- Aaron Voigt - https://www.youtube.com

"Are you a fan of fantasy and/or Sci-fi? Well, the cool thing about Stoneburner is it combines both into a single setting. You play a Dwarf, and you may come across a wandering Elf or a Human trader. Do you like base-building games? Stoneburner has rules for creating a base, expanding it, and gaining benefits from it. The more time you spend constructing your settlement, the more benefits you'll receive from it. Do you like games where you get to explore as you go? Stoneburner is all about exploring and discovering as you go. What will be in this abandoned facility or those Asteroids? You'll have to go in there to find out. Maybe you'll find riches. Maybe you'll find ancient artifacts with great power. Do you like highly thematic games with a well-built Universe to play in? Stoneburner has a great feel and theme to it, built-in mythologies, and really great character classes. Stoneburner is an excellent blending of hard-sci-fi and fantasy. In this #solorpg friendly #TTRPG you play as a Dwarf hunting through abandoned asteroids looking for riches."

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in providing community copies of your game. I’m a disabled pension who can’t afford much so these free gifts really help me out in playing games and keeping my mind active.

I really appreciate your hard work and kindness

Will there ever be an sdr for this and then a jam? I like the idea of this game because solo games don't have community building, and a sense of community is important in solo games.

Oh, that's a good question. I'm still working on making a single creator kit for Breathless, Nomadic, Renegades, Stoneburner, and TotBS, but it's taking more time than I'd like.

Technically, the whole game is open licensed, so if you want to make a hack of it, check out this website: https://farirpgs.com/burned-in-stones/license.

As for a jam, that's definitely something I'm thinking about, even more so considering the Songs and Sagas Jam is now wrapped up.

Thank you for replying.

I finally bought this wonder! I noticed that the links below are broken:

  • Third Party License
  • Burned in Stones" Logos
  • Press Kit
(+2)

Oh dang it, sorry about that! I've updated the Press Kit to point to the Stoneburner website and the third-party license/logos to point to https://farirpgs.com/burned-in-stones/license.

Thanks for this. I recently migrated the website, and it has caused a couple of problems like this. I truly appreciate it.

I've had a great time with this game so far.  Do you know of any fan made sectors out there?  I made a Christmas themed one last holidays but I was wondering if anyone else has.

(+2)

Any chance for some community copies?

(1 edit) (+2)

I've said it before elsewhere, but I'll it again here. Stoneburner is one of the best TTRPGs I've ever played.

More than any edition of D&D or Pathfinder, FFG Star Wars, Call of Cthulu, Paranoia... like...

Its basically just this (and spin-off Tales of the Burned Stones) and Blades in the Dark (and its derivatives, but esp Court of Blades, Band of Blades, and Wicked Ones.)

I cannot sing its praises often or loud enough.

Ever since I tested Tales Of I've been after a copy to try the full game. Thanks, Fari!

Hey folks, for those interested we ran a session of Stoneburner for our podcast. Please check it out if your interested. https://fandible.com/stoneburner/

I have a physical copy - can I ask kindly for a pdf or at least a pdf of character sheets to print?

is not for us right now =/

Rock and roll - quite literally! Awesome flavorful game in a beautiful crafted book

An amazing concept with top tier execution. This game gives you everything you’ve ever wanted to make an interstellar dwarven mining base and fill it with demons, monsters, and the most hardcore dwarven warriors that have to fight for their stake.

If you like Breathless, but want a little more OSR crunch, this is the game for you!

Great looking book, fun to play. Base building mechanica are there if you want them (so cool!)

Stoneburner is a great evolution of the already tremendous ‘Breathless’ system. It shoots the gap between harsh OSR game and the narrative-heavy, success-with-costs play that indie TTRPGs have become accustomed to. It nabs the best of what it needs from both worlds and combines them in a novel but flexible setting, with lots of room for various personalities and adventures. Being light on rules, it’s easy to learn, easy to build a character for, and easy to get playing (by yourself or a traditional group). The name is pretty cool, too!

Fun setting, simple rules great design. Dwarfs in space! I am looking forward to play it.

RP and Galen hit a home run with this one!

A fun game with relatively simple rules, good art, and a fantastic community.

I played a couple of games with my friends. It’s pretty fun. I like the progression of our village and our silly twist on the universe. The game has good mechanics and enables us in our fantasy.

Great game!  Simple rules & great art!  Highly recommended!

This game rocks.
