I love the game and I was very happy to see more Gunnar content because he's my favourite hausubando. However, having thought about it some more, I have some hopefully constructive criticism.
- SPOILER -
1. As others have pointed out, is it advisable to have an update that effectively renders the game unplayable, since we're stuck in the middle of nowhere? The only way to enjoy it and continue playing the game is to just do it in a separate save, but then you're continuing to play in a world where all of this hasn't happened, it's a little jarring.
2. The plot isn't as good as it could be, in my opinion. What was even the plan of this inflitration? What was the aim? They knew his father was a shapeshifter or at least crazy or something, what were they going to do if it hadn't been a trap? I think it's just that the omniscient writer knew that the mission would fail, so there was no need to have a coherent plan of what a success of the mission would entail.
3. My biggest criticism, and not just because Gunnar is my alpha dom hausubando - it is always frustrating in stories, and this story is far from being the only one guilty of this, when the characters have to suddenly become dumber or weaker for the plot to move forward. There was no need to leave Gunnar alone or for him to die(?), taking into consideration the player character's skills and resources. The justification that was given was that Tank is too dumb and the player character is needed to help get Scar to safety. In that case, why on earth take Tank? Why not take Korg? Or hell, why not Logan? Gunnar is characterized as very distrustful, but surely if he can take the player, then he can take a player's close friend as well. And Logan has three hearts with me and would definitely want to come. We just saw him in another update beat up like tens of werewolves at once, surely he could single-paw-edly deal with a bunch of guards in a narrow corridor? Or at least he, or Korg or whoever, could be relied on to take Scar to safety, while the player character, who has defeated tens of orcs, swamp monsters, werewolves, corrupted Roushk etc., could help Gunnar win the fight easily. This ties into another problem, where there is a huge cast of characters, but they're mostly location-locked and don't interact with each other, even though it would make perfect sense for the player character to make use of his multiple contacts and close friends to help with such a situation.
Alternatively, my character had like 100 exploding bombs with him. Why couldn't he use them to blow up the corridor and block the way for the guards?
Having the player be able to make such decisions and affect the story based on their previous actions (eg. having hearts with Logan or Korg, having bombs with him) would give the player agency and reward them for making certain decisions before. As it stands, the player doesn't make one single decision in this whole arc! I'm just tagging along while decisions are made for me, I can't affect the story at all.
If for plot reasons you still need the mission to fail, then that's fine, there's a myriad ways you can do that. But it's just frustrating and takes one out of the story when if you think about it for one minute you could see how the player character, who is consistently characterized as smart and resourceful, could make better decisions and help out his friends in a better way at each step, but he doesn't, because the writer needs him to be dumber/weaker for the story to move forward.
That's just my opinion, I understand that this is mostly an erotic game and that's what we love it for, but the world and story are truly engaging and I would love for them to develop, but if this game is to have a proper story apart from the smut, I believe the storytelling has to improve somewhat.
