Description of the new feature

PowerShell Gallery sometimes goes down:

PowerShell Gallery does not guarantee uptime (but people still add business dependency on it being up):

Microsoft.PowerShell.PSResourceGet has support for Azure Container Registry:

Microsoft already has public ACR instances for other Azure related things, like Azure Verified Modules:

Proposed implementation details (optional)

  • Host Azure PowerShell modules in a public Azure Container Registry as backup to PowerShell Gallery, might even become the default in the future?
  • Make Az.Tools.Installer aware of this new ACR instance too.

Worth noting Offline Installation of Azure PowerShell is also an option when PSGallery is down.
