A tool to help RPG game masters run combat encounters.
Running a tabletop roleplaying game can be a busy and thankless job. Yes, it is fun for you and the players, but there are so many things to keep track of. Staying organized and avoiding mistakes with nothing but pen and paper and dice can be both time-consuming and error-prone.
Do Rounds attempts to ease of one of the DMs harder jobs: running complex combat encounters. By keeping track of initiative, armor class, and to hit bonus, through a user interface that is quick and keyboard focused, it can speed up encounters and make them more enjoyable for both the players and the DM.
The specific information that Do Rounds tracks and the nomenclature that it uses are definitely oriented towards D&D 5e, but any person with a modicum of familiarity with HTML and JavaScript ought to be able to adapt this for other systems easily.
You can use this software at dorounds.com, an entirely free service that has no advertising, tracking, logging, cookies...nothing but the service.
You can also self-host Do Rounds just by downloading the files from this repo. It stores all of its data in your browser's localStorage, so there is no need to set up a database or other resources to make it work. There's literally zero configuration involved. Just open the index.html in a browser and go.
This project is offered under the UnLicense. Do whatever you want with it, just be kind and use it to bring enjoyment to other RPG-loving folks.
Check out the TODO file in this repo for a list of features that the author intends to add. There's not too much there, and that's unlikely to change, as the author would like to avoid bloat and complexity. However, please feel free to add an Issue if you find a bug or feel that you have an idea for a new feature that would really improve it.
This software uses Vue.js and Spectre.css. The author is profoundly grateful to the folks who created these things and made them available to other creators. Software, like fantasy roleplaying, is at its best when it involves cooperation, creativity and selflessness.
