Welcome to Project Fuxi! Our goal is to improve the wellbeing of the elderly through the power of music in awakening memories. Developed by Coding for Good at UWCSEA, this React Native and Expo Go app aims to provide a user-friendly and cost-effective way for persons with dementia to enjoy and benefit from music therapy. Research shows that music awakens parts of the brain in persons with dementia, improving their quality of life. Project Fuxi is an extension of the many years of collaboration and learning with partners at Apex Harmony Lodge. This project was catalyzed by the 50th Anniversary Annual Fund Innovation Incubator.

- 🧬 Advanced algorithm that selects a playset of music for a given patient based on their metadata, such as gender, ethnicity, birthdate, language, and more.
- 🎚️ Caregiver can drag a slider to submit a value on a scale from 1-5 to provide feedback on the patient's response to the song being played.
- 📊 Other data, such as the percentage of the track that was played, is also collected and sent to our backend to smartly update the playset for the patient.
- 🔄 Continual optimization of song selection to elicit positive responses among patients.
- 🎧 Options for caregivers to manually select a playlist of songs for patients as an alternative to the algorithm.
