One of the dilemmas of roleplaying is the relationship between player skill and character skill.
How can you, especially in a freeform system, combine a player's skill, role play, and character's skill?
At the same time, how does the Dungeon Master have an objective yardstick (well, as objective as possible) that gives players the chance to make informed choices about interactions with NPCs and the environment?
Here I offer a small system modeled on Old School D&D, in which much is left to freeform role-playing and to the judgment calls of the DM.
A few suggestions on how to customize the magic system in Old School D&D if you dislike Vancean magic.
A system hack to run BX or whitebox D&D (and basically any other old school D&D) without using classes or levels.

A new female-only class for BX compatible games: Dragoncat ladies have a supernatural affinity with cats, dragons and the magical dragoncats
A simple idea.
Such a thing is often done for Fighters, but I am a lover of Thieves, and therefore ...
The Thief is often considered the weakest of the classes in classic D&D (and retro-clones), especially since it is often possible for any character to perform thiefly actions in the OSR.
But one of the peculiarities of some OSR currents, is that they have embraced an interpretation of Thief abilities that considers them almost magical.
So I came up with a small list of additional special abilities for the Thief that players can pick from to customize their characters.
