The menu could be a little easier to read. The game, itself, was really fun. I actually got pretty far into the game without ever using a thruster because I didn't know how to get the ship to move. I started again and tried with the thrusters and it was really tough. Which is good. The thrusters work the way they are supposed to, but it takes a bit to get used to them and adds a new layer to the complexity. If it wasn't for the fact that you can basically win the first 8 waves or so by staying in one place and shooting it would be a great game. I would suggest having the spawn in point shift a bit after the third wave so that you are forced to move. Also love the color scheme, and the music was fun but it got a bit repetitive quickly.

thanks for the feedback, maybe I should've made the spawn point move but my AI companion code was so poorly written that that would've broken everything, haha

Great text-based arcade game! Some more work on the sound is needed to really make it shine. I agree that the controls are not the best. Why not stick to the standard Asteroids controls?

Enjoyed the game, i think the art and UI was the best, it didn't feel as a "text only" game in a good way. Liked the retro arcade vibe. The music was maybe too repetitive for me at least. Overall good work!

Nice effects, for sure.
And a well polished pacing.
Although the music is nice, it gets a little wild, when it splits melodies for a while.
After 4th wave i think i got used to the controls.

Developer

the music does go wild yeah, haha

Great audio, AI, controls, particles. I am sure this will come in the top ten!

Thank you so much!

I'm hoping I'll do well

I really like the art style for the game. I wanted try something like this but decided it was too much work to color and line up characters. The controls did not quite feel right to me. For this type of game I prefer mouse controls with the ship looking towards the mouse cursor. Overall good job.

Developer

I was debating adding mouse control but with the screenwrapping it was hard to get the ability to consistently thrust in one direction, maybe if I do something like this again in the future I'll try to do that
