How did you choose to implement the Theme: Thirst for Blood in your game?
The player works for a company which "mines" blood from live moons.
Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
Life Drain: The player can also extract blood from enemies.
Out for Blood: It's the whole plot and mechanic.

I liked the visuals and the "mario galaxy" planet walking. Very cool! The meter on the guy filling up was a cool touch. I think this game would really pop if you added more feedback to the drilling and attacking enemies. More effects and animations for the enemy to really make drilling and attacking fun. Since those are the things you do most, make them as cool as possible!

I've had two bugs that made the experience rather poor for me. One, the camera is bugged out for me and I kept spinning over and over again to the left. I suspect it's cause I have two monitors, but as I don't know the cause I can't really do much about it. Two, there was a bug that was colliding with/attacking with the character on the main menu.
The core concept, from what I could try to do by powering through, has potential though. Art-wise it looks nice and I can see it escalating if given the proper time to make everything. For now, it has the good foundations of a arcade game and I'm all for it
By any chance do you have a controller plugged in with drift on the right stick? Since you're the first to mention this camera bug that's my suspicion. (also I have a controller with drift and I've been through this issue before)

As my son said in the video, this really is like a take on Astroneer in a jam game. That alone is pretty astounding and I'm sure the technical obstacles you had to maneuver around would have blown my mind. The camera control was pretty bad though and that cheapened the rest of the experience. If that was resolved, I might have ignored the mindless enemies, poor attack mechanics, and the weak implementation of the theme. Don't worry though, I too only make the games I want to make for jams and if the theme happens to line up with it, all the better. So kudos to you for making such an impressive work!

I don't see how you can consider it backhanded. I gave clear areas of improvement, opened/closed with how astounding and interesting it is. I even gave you a single improvement that would have made the game more enjoyable overall.
A really original idea and a very nice gaming experience. The night part is very atmospheric!
I like how the theme of the jam was interpreted, also very original. For the rest, I won't repeat what has already been said, except that I ended up avoiding spiders rather than facing them too. ^^"
The green of the ground confuses me, however. I don't even know why. Maybe I was expecting a earth-like brown or a moon's surface-like gray? I don't know why, but I find that it somehow tones down a bit the otherwise spot-on creepy atmosphere.

At first we went for some "earth planet" covered in blood, then changed to moon... and just didn't change the texture =p

Very smooth movement walking across the miniworld, or megacell :) I think you defined your idea and scope very well for the jam and completed it. I like the flesh-cavern-ish environment and I would like to be able to explore it and fly around it. Maybe jumping from cell to cell. Your game invites to play more levels, planet-cells and enemies. Good job!
The mechanic of jumping from planet to planet is pretty easy to implement as this was done. Maybe some next project :)

Really unique concept and technically very solid I especially like the spider bugs animation. Would of liked the bugs to be hostile or maybe some environmental danger to spice things up a bit but has lots of potential.

This was pretty fun. I didn' t always realize how bad or exactly when the blood spiders were attacking tho. I think some louder sound effects for feedback to help me know or feel when i was drilling properly or being attacked would be helpful
I loved the tiny world design and that I could find my ship by looking for the nearby sun and horizon.
I thought I filled up the ship but I wasn't sure how to send it off for profit? Not sure if there is an indicator that i didn't see but was a bit confused and didn't beat the game due to that. I like that the blood meter is actually on the ship though.

This is a really quirky game you made here. I like the concept of drilling for Blood Crystals on an alien world. Though the rest falls flat in terms of design. The feedback for the gameplay felt confusing as I was unsure whether or not I was mining a rock properly or if I was even attacking until I died. The most frustrating aspect was that the aiming controls felt clunky and I had to adjust myself multiple times just to mine a single crystal.
Not a bad game, but definitely could use some fine-tuning.
Overall this is a cool game. I do wish the enemies would sometimes seek you out though since you could just avoid them and collect the blood from the crystals, and with that maybe I missed it but a way to heal yourself would be cool too. I love the atmosphere of it all though, walking around on a planet is fun.
That was a really cool game. Only complaint at the moment is the controls (specifically the keyboard and mouse controls). It seems like the mouse should rotate the player, and WASD to move around, instead of the mouse just changing the camera angle around the player. Idk it just feels off. But other than that, what you have is a really cool game so far. I really liked the idea cus instead of going for vampires like most people might think to do, you came up with something completely original, and it works really well. The idea that the company is gonna take your blood if you don't complete the job is really creepy and well done. Great game.
Yeah, I wanted to code twin-stick style controls for this one, but it did feel a bit jank with the mouse. Thanks for the compliments!
The art and player perspective look great here and this is a fun little experience! I agree that the attack mechanic seemed to be a little wonky so I just avoided enemies. I hadn't realized what the smaller blood tank was and didn't realize until I died the first time. A little blurb explaining that and that the ship's tank was literally in the ship would clear that up pretty quickly. I did love seeing the two tanks on the back of the player too.
Otherwise I also didn't make use of the jump button at all and craters would be a cool fix for that. A sfx for mining the crystals might be a nice touch too. Looks like one crystal always fills half the gauge but a sfx that rises in pitch could help communicate that idea too, just a thought. The game right now is really just missing music otherwise. Awesome submission!

I was aware that there were no reasons to jump, it was just a left over mechanical from the previous jam that we did. I like the idea of craters <3 About sfx, I wanted to put many for feedback, just didn't manage to get them in in time :(
A really cool concept and pretty solid execution, the blood moon is very creepy and the art is both cute yet spooky. The combat mechanic didn't work as well as the drilling mechanic, so I ended up just avoiding the enemies. I think the game could have used some ambient music to make it feel more ominous and less empty (or at least some tension music for low health), as well as some additional challenges such as craters so the jumping mechanic had a use. The gathering was pretty ominous, especially on the darker side of the moon, and had some nice intrigue.
Impressive and well done, I really like the overtly dystopian hemoCorp story the creators are writing, and I like the proposed "health-to-blood system" that is mentioned for the future in the description. If more development is going to be made on this game, I recommend finding ways to make that story stuff more apparent in the game, as it's really interesting.
Oh really solid idea on the craters! Yes, this is lacking a lot of polish and balancing. I'll still work on this a bit more so some changes are incoming. At least the promised features :)
