61000. Just 7000 (no, not 8000) points away from a special number for a special game for a special console.
(Nice shoutout to Summer Carnival '92, by the way, at least that's what I thought when I saw 'Halloween Carnival '22))
Wow, so much was going on those 2 minutes felt like forever. I was a bit confused why the candies aren't disappearing if I go to them so I thought they were there for flavor at first. As for challenge, surprisingly just right! It seems to hit the sweet spot for me personally, though that obviously varies per person.
These are always a treat. (Put not intended but now it is.)
The standalone wouldn't run for me (Windows 10). The web version ran fine in chrome except it slowed down when there were a lot of bullets on the screen. Firefox had this same issue as well as audio crackling.
TBODDYYYY MY MAN its been a while i thought we LOST ya there
who else can we count on to make some real ass blast processed crunchy eastern project. elegant and nice-looking as always
i was getting some massive slowdown when there were a few bullets onscreen, can't tell if my computer or the emulator is just bein stupid or the genesis is really givin ya that little to work with. not to much of an issue though
score: 86500
Simple and to-the-point caravan shoot-em-up. I always appreciate more shmup developers, myself!
Scoring is pretty simple and doesn't give much room from optimisation, but I think it's fine this way. Perhaps adding more bonus candies the faster you kill enemies and bosses could work? The patterns are also pretty simple and sparse while not being completely random, which is nice. It works with the lack of a focus button, in my opinion.
My main complaint is that the bosses kind of have too much health, it seems like all of your shots need to hit and just missing a few while dodging means you won't defeat Flandre in time? I'm not sure, I still need to test it a bit more. Some folks have managed to defeat Flan with leftover time so it may be just me.
Overall good work! Gives me real Sega Genesis nostalgia vibes (<- was not born when the Genesis was released).
Solid game for 72 hours. Very solid.
Good choice of music.
The game itself wsn't bad too, the difficulty is ok. Patterns were pretty good.
Fps sometimes drop, but it's understandable since it's only web version that I tried.
Its alright, really solid, would say something, but it's really well-made project.
The idea isn't the best, but still acceptable.
Still very cool. Thank you for experience and keep it up!
This game is pretty fun, good gameplay, very nice art style and it's quite challenging!
The side scrolling bullet hell, visuals, audio, and controls are simply great.
The HTML5 version's audio is unstable while the Windows port does not.
Considering its limitations, this creative work is still possible and that is an impressive feat.
Generally, this is a great Touhou game!
It's amazing what you're able to do on a genesis, although it does lag a bit at times, making it a fairly easy (but not too easy) bite-sized shmup.
The scoring system is kind of meh. It feels like the kind of system where you'd get a bonus for collecting many candies at once, but that doesn't seem to be a thing.
The bosses are nice and the patterns are appropriate for a game with no focus button. It feels like they have just the right amount of HP, which makes sense given that its a 2-minute game.
Hi-score: 86750 (I've got a couple of no miss runs that I think pick up everything and have over 10 seconds to spare, but for some reason, this is the highest scoring one?)
SHmUP challenge? It wasn't exactly easy but it's nothing I can't clear.
As it stands the barrages offer an OK challenge, I think it lacks a little spice even though it's a 2-minute game.
I really liked the background and the music though, it's really good for a 72 hours project!
