Velox Fabula (or "Quick Story") is a ranked jam about making a complete visual novel in 10 days based on a community-determined theme. The theme is revealed at the start of the jam.
This jam is heavily inspired by Ludum Dare, a global game jam about making a game from scratch based on a certain theme in a short amount of time. We highly encourage participants in this jam to check out that jam as well!
Take a look at some VN examples from their last jam!
After 6 rounds of voting, the community-determined theme is:
Voting will be held for 2 weeks after the jam submission window closes. Your rank in each category is determined based on votes from your fellow participants.
You will be assigned a random set of games to play and rate. After you play and rate 5 entries, you will be free to play and rate the rest of the entries. This is to ensure that everyone gets the opportunity to receive votes. If we do not receive more than 10 entries, we will only announce 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all categories.
Categories include:
[1] Work alone or in a team (no size limit). Only submitters/contributors can vote on other submissions, so please add all members to the game to grant them voting access.
[2] No assets/writing/code/etc can be done before the jam starts. Everything must be made during the jam period. Brainstorming and concepts are fine.
[3] No demos/prologues/unfinished games are allowed. The submission can be an offshoot title from a project (such as a side story) but must be complete and self-contained.
[4] You are free to use publicly available assets. This includes things like sound effects, purchased sprite packs, etc. Please credit them accordingly.
[5] AI art/music/writing is not permitted in any way, shape, or form. No exceptions.
[6] You must incorporate the theme.
[7] Your game must be a visual novel or have visual novel elements as a major part of the game.
[8] Sexually explicit/graphic violent content is not permitted. Use your best judgment.
