In what way does your game fit the theme?
Character can rewind objects in timespace.
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote most of the code myself, watched lot of tutorials on how to do something. I bought some assets from Unity Asset store and searched web for free to use assets. All asset creators have been credited.
Known bugs:
Sounds can be quite loud, especially at later part of the game *
Sometimes platform can get inside ground and can't be rewinded.
Tiles get vertical white lines when moving *
Menus fade glitches, when clicking buttons more than once *
* Fixed for the next build
Also I'm getting lot of comments about checkpoints, or the lack of. I'm working on a checkpoint system, kinda like the one in Ori and the blind forest.

Great entry with a gorgeous world. I like the concept, even though it's pretty straight following the theme. I think having the rewind on E instead of R could make the gameplay a little more smoothly, as it's easier to reach the E key, at least for me. The rotating platforms are soooooo slow, they are the main reason I quit the game a couple times because I didn't wanna have to go through them again, when dying at a later place. That's actually my main issue... but I read above that you already consider making a checkpoint system, so I won't get into more detail on that. And since I said 'quit a couple times' you can already tell that I still came back to the game to try it again. Looking forward to the post jam build!
It would be great if you could check out my entry too, it's by no means finished and also has a bunch of bugs, but is a side-scroller with larger world design as well. It's only my second game ever, so I would appreciate some feedback. Cheers
This was probably the best the best and most polished platformer that I have played from the game jam. The atmosphere was nice and there was no clashing art styles, the movement felt good and the jumps weren't floaty. The time manipulation mechanic was nice.
The only criticism have is that it was too easy and that failure always was punished with death (kinda contrary statements). Im not asking for checkpoints but maybe that you add some harder puzzles where you simply fall in a hole and have to get up and try again. A timer would also be nice so that you can speed run the game ;)
Good job!
Thanks. You might be the only one who's said this game easy (as a dev I feel it's easy too, but then again, I know from the start how everything works...)
For now there actually is only one such part where you fall and have to climb back again (the rotating platforms).
On fixed version there's another one like that (first water platform, if you fail you'll have to climb fast back up and try again, or drown) but I'll be sure to add more since I want to develop this further and see where it goes. Basicly, I want to use such means to teach mechanics and after player is familiar with it, I want to test player if it truly is mastered.
I also hate floaty jumps in games.
As for art. Szadi art. and Luiz Melo (Unity asset store) are both awesome pixel artists and I'll definately use more of their assets in the future.
I really like the atmosphere of your game!
The graphics are gorgeous, and together with the music, it's amazing.
The animations of the character feel lively and the movement is great. It's responsive but doesn't feel too stiff.
The main mechanic of the game fits the theme well and has a lot of potential. It also reminds of the rewind gun we used in our game. There's a lot that you can do with that idea, and you did some things. I didn't finish the game, but what I saw was interesting. If you pace the game like a platformer, where each level is about an idea, like those platforms, or falling rocks, or platforms on water, I could really see a great platformer here.
My only real complaint, as others pointed out, is the lack of checkpoints. If a game gets too frustrating the player will quit, and so did I. Maybe you could do a bit more with the levels. Like adding a tutorial or refining the level design. I haven't done much platformer design, so I can't really tell. I have a feeling that you could at least smooth out the difficulty curve and put your ideas into levels, which then could focus on an idea, such as a theme or mechanic.
Great job! You could develop this into a full-fledged game, but it's going to be a lot of work. So good luck with your game dev journey!
Thanks for your input.
Actually I was thinking more of a metroidvania for the full game rather than level based, It'll be a long process to get it done tho... As for level design, I've already made some changes, I'm trying to introduce mechanics first in "safe" environment and then add challenge with something to lose, to some extend I feel that I've accomplished this, but not fully (for example, later when water is introduced in the mix, the first platform kills you, I've changed it so you'll drop in water and have to get up from there rather fast, since there's internal timer before you drown)
Great game. its a good platformer, altough I feel that if you add checkpoints it will be too short. The artstyle is very good, and the game controls are very responsive.
I dont quite like having to install the game, generally for GameJams I feel you should make your game as portable as posible (preferably a web Game, although a portable game is good enough). this doesnt affect the quality of the game, but it could be a detriment if somebody is doing a rating spree and sees that they have to stop, download and install your game instead of just playing it either on the web, or a portable version (they are more likely to ignore this game to avoid the hassle).
Overall, excellent job :D
thanks.
This is my first jam and after I started play testing other games I realized my mistake on the installer, I will remember this on my next jam.
I felt the same way about checkpoints for this game, that it's short already (I can breeze through in few minutes), but since I'm going to continue developing it, there will be a lot more content and then checkpoints are a justified. I just feel that some arbiturary point in space doesn't tell a good story and breaks the "illusion of game". This is why I want it to be a mechanic / skill of the character itself rather than dropping checkpoint marks everywhere.
Good game, excellent rewind mechanic, art and audio. I would speed up the reset menu action or add checkpoints. Adding some sound for the jump would be nice too. Other than this, great submission.
Thanks. Checkpoint system is under work, as for jumping sound, I decided to make minimal sfx to give music more room, but I guess a minor "Thud" sound wouldn't hurt (tho becouse of a bug, it didn't go so well but that's fixed already in next iteration)
Awesome game, with nice art, level design and music. But the lack of checkpoints is really annoying. And for some reason, when the rocks were falling, it seemed like someone was shooting (the sound, I mean), but no one was I that was also annoying.
Thanks. I didn't have time to fix the sound system properly, so the rock sounds are way louder than they are supposed to be. I fixed it for the next version tho.
Wow the game looks amazing.Execution of the mechanics is top notch :) There is a bug about menu s but i see someone reported to you.Other than that loved it :D
(Also maybe add more checkpoints im bad at this game |: )
Thanks.
Checkpoints are the most complained part of this game, I have a checkpoint system under work.
Fun game but a lack of checkpoints was really annoying ^^' I saw that you fixed the tile problem otherwise that would've been a complaint from me :)
Thanks. I have a checkpoint system under work, kinda like in Ori and the blind forest, but I'm still trying to decide what's the downside of dropping it.
The pixel art and the animations were really great. I really enjoyed the game. The mechanic and the concept was very good. The implementation of the mechanics was also very well done. Overall, I really liked the game.
Could you please rate my game too? Its not as good as yours but it would mean a lot to me if you rated it.
Thanks for your kind words. Sure, I'll check it out tomorrow
Wow, i realy loved your graphics, great pixel animations. There is just this thing when the character is walking that the tiles are glitching and you can see an horizontal line between tiles, and a minor bug in the menus, that it keeps receiving the action after i've selected so it resets 5 times before it actually resets for example.
Besides those little things, incredible game, i really liked how you've aproached the theme of rewinding with a classical pixel art game.
Thanks for your input.
I'm aware of the tile glitching, it's a "feature" of unity I guess and fixing it would mean to edit every single tile and I didn't want to do that since it would take so much time, maybe later tho. As for the menus, I forgot to disable inputs while translation "animation" was rolling, so you can just spam buttons, luckily only the animation actually resets. that should do the trick.
Actually, it was easy to fix and I just did. I'll upload fixed version once the jam is over.
Really lovely relaxing game., it gave of a quite polished feel. However, the falling stone boulders sfx was a bit immersion breaking, and the lack of checkpoints were a bit savage. At least it didn't feel the relaxing vibe of the game to be punished by a complete restart when you failed, in my opinion. Did really enjoy playing it though..
Well done
Thanks.
I made new audio controller just before submitting and it didn't work just the way I wanted to, Unity's own was better in that regard, I will fix it tho. As for checkpoints, I'll add them too in future builds, I was thinking one before every harder puzzle
Nice game, I'm really enjoy played with it :) Really love that artstyle!
Thanks. glad you liked it.
Good Game with great mechanics
pls play and rate my game too: https://rakshit-ranjan.itch.io/rewind-knight
Thanks, I'll try to get some time to play and rate other games next week. Right now I'm swamped with work
Beautiful graphics and great mechanics! Your approach to the theme Rewind is very neat. The music is fitting since it gives the timespace feel. The whole experience reminds me of the past when I played NES games growing up. It was a pleasant feeling. A checkpoint would have made me feel less discouraged whenever I died, but other than that everything else is well done!
Old NES / SNES games have always been huge inspiration to me and I just love pixel graphics. as for the music, I tried to get atmospheric music and keep other sfx minimal.
nice game please rate mine
Thanks. I've rated your game already
Good game with a good idea. I feel my biggest complaint is that there are no checkpoints and you have to start from the beginning. Other than that, great start for a week!
Thanks, you're not the only one saying same thing about checkpoints tho. I might implement them later if/when I continue on this project.
Yeah, I have an idea that I think could enhance your game and that would be adding a story element of possibly going to the ancient ruins to find this relic to save your village. I just think something like that could tie it all together and make it feel like a relaxing story-driven, peaceful game.
Graphics and audio were impeccable! I would have liked a checkpoint system but the game play was really fun despite that
Thank you. I might implement checkpoint system if / when I continue developing this one
I would absolutely love to see this game continue
The visuals are so great! Remember me some games of gameboy, for some reason. Nice use of the rewind! The only recommendation is create some checkpoints, because sometimes I needed to return from far away.
Thanks.
I thinked about making checkpoints, but at that time I didn't have much time left so I opted not to, definately gonna put atleast couple of them if/when I continue working on this project.
Oh, I see! The time was really a issue in this jam. Anyways, great job! Check our game too, if you have some time.
Have a nice day!
Nice game! Enjoyed my time playing it. Visuals & Audio look great. The rewind mechanic is fantastic.
Great work on this game :)
I'd appreciate if you play and rate our game too!

Thanks, I just played and rated your game, I couldn't finish the I guess last boss tho.
Really nice presentation, feels very polished. Especially the nice responsive controls.
Thanks. I still think controls need more polishing, especially on slopes.
glad you liked it!
