The skeletons are stronger together, hence the theme fits for the enemies of the game.

As shown on the page, I did not make the music or the font of the game. Everything else, such as character models and code, is made by me.

This was my best kill after 30 minutes playing.
What a great game! Really fun fast paced action! And the music... OUTSTANDING!
My favorite track was the small map. But the other two are awesome too!
Very clever use of the theme. They really become stronger together! Almost impossible sometimes.
The kickback from the skellies should be a little shorter, cause sometimes you're overwhelm and with a little shorter kickback, maybe you can escape them. But it's just my opinion. The game is awesome!

Overall very nice game.
I wish it was a little bit slower pace as it proved to be pretty hard especially with just two mechanics.
Also wished there was more abilities that get unlocked once you progress.

The art feels a bit dull in terms of color scheme. I’d recommend using a pre-made palette from a site like Lospec
There is a lot of pancake shading
The header font (for example the font used for the tutorial which says “MOVEMENT”) is quite hard to read. The letters themselves look fine but I really don’t like how the dark gray outline consists of two colors
The flare sprite is quite banded
Maybe it’s just me but I find is hard to read text using large font sizes (like the tutorial text)
The buttons look a bit blurry
I think an interactive tutorial would be better than the current text-based one
The title screen animation is cool but the sprites themselves look like they’re just standing still (no walking animation)
The player’s walking animation plays even if you don’t move (maybe it’s just a weird looking idle animation?)
The enemy movement feels too slide-y. It’s like their skiing on ice. Perhaps they need more friction with the ground?
I like the player hurt animation
An enemy health bar/indicator would be nice
Decent visual feedback. Maybe some camera shake could be added?
Enemy damage feels inconsistent (the first hit looks like it barely does anything)
Cool music
The weapon feels a bit unresponsive. I feel like it hangs in its downward position for too long after being swung
Quite challenging
Wow, a really in-depth take. This is my first time doing any 2d art, so any pixel art advice is really useful.
Also, I planned that enemies at a certain distance to each other will increase their stats, taking less damage, dealing more damage, and becoming faster. It's why the first few hits feel weak while sometimes they could also become suddenly strong. I really should have made a more interactive tutorial, while also giving skellies their own UI.
All of this is great notes if I plan to make a post-jam game update. Once again, thank you so much for the great amount of feedback!
Oh and just so you know, that pixel art tips image isn’t like the holy gospel or anything. For example, dithering can look really good. There’s exceptions to everything after all
I liked the attacking system, though the knockback taked made it easy to get overwhelmed.
Thank you for the responses, everyone! It seems that the difficulty is the main issue with the game currently. You were supposed to use a flare, then attack only one or two skellies in order to separate the one or two skellies, which are far easier to beat. Now that I think of it, it's a bit too convoluted of a battle system. Once again, I really appreciate your feedback!
This is a nice game. But too hard in my opinion.
The Graphics are great and i like the game idea a lot. The music fits as well.
The game is so cool I loved the game. The player movement was great and the sprites were great!
A pretty good game, I like the music of it and the art style.
The control balance of the game might need some improvements, sometimes I swing but the enemies do not die, then they flood to me and I die directly with full health. So maybe add some invincible frames for the player, and increase the collision box for the player(or reduce the time before the attack)
Other than that the game is very fast pace and intense and I like it!
This game is pretty fun, but if you just stay in the corner, skeletons just become walking targets with no threat at all. you could just stand there swinging away, and stun them if it becomes a problem. Everything else besides that is just fantastic.

I mean that you could just stay in any of the corners of the map(I chose the bottom left), and swing your sword at them. If there were to many, then you could use the flare. Sorry, I forgot they were called flares. Just so you know, I played the easiest mode. the other ones were way to hard for me.

This game is really fun but some things need balancing. It's very easy to get ganged up and die or just be cornered so invincibility frames would be nice. I also think that flares don't make any sense as the whole point is to have them spread out and flares group them together. However, the art is really nice, and the sound effects are great as well!

Interesting idea, had fun playing it.
The enemies can find path very quickly. Animations are well made.
The gameplay is also well though, adding knock back when on damage taken is a good design.
Adding attack animations to enemies and adding a dodge button to the player can add more actions to the game in my opinion.
Overall, really well made and well-designed game.

This is a really fun game! The player movement was nice and crisp, there was good feedback when attacking enemies and I really like how you've represented the theme through the enemies rather than the player its a nice twist.
The only issue I'd say is how quickly the enemies can easily trap and kill the player, I'd recommend increasing the invincibility frames after taking damage and allowing the player to pass through the enemies instead of stun locking him.
Overall this was a very nice game, congrats.

I found the game to be kind of difficult, the skeleton spawn a bit too fast even though I choose small as the difficulty level. This game need a bit more tuning, try out my game too.
Thank you! It is quite a difficult game, so I tried balancing it out by making the flare mechanic. Did you try the other map sizes as well? Flares are far more effective in the larger maps.
Ok the art is BEAUTIFUL! well done!! The game runs smoothly and its super fun, plus, the GUI is cool and matches with the rest of the art style, the mechanics are fun, quick and simple, great job!
