How does you game fit the theme?
Every step the player takes they have to figure out what floors and walls aren't real in order to progress. The gameplay hints at a story of the entire "event" the character experiences as being a nightmare (not real ;) ).

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
We made the entire game ourselves with help from Google. This is with the exception of Unity standard assets for polygon rigs and animations, Syntystore art for said polygon rigs, and fonts from 1001fonts.com.

Nice horror game.

Nice work for a first game - I liked the idea of it being like an arcade version of Outlast. I wasn't too much of a fan of the title screen graphics and I felt the maze needed more batteries (I spent most of the time running around in the dark bumping into spikes and accidentally running through the fake walls lol).

I loved the fact you gave a little tutorial section for encountering the monsters though and that you offered different difficulty modes. I think people who don't like horror games will appreciate the 'no-monsters' mode.

The font of the game was not really nice. It was hard to read.  That was the first impression I got .

HOWEVER, the graphics are really nice! I like the sounds used and the ida of the game. It has an atmosphere and I like that little creepiness!

really nice job for it being your first! mine as also my first! good job!

keep it up!

Really nice job for your first game jam. The mirror reflection was really cool, creeped me out at first.

Nice job on your first game. As a couple of others have said the default mouse sensitivity was much too high but I was able to figure out turn it down. I like the idea of using the light to reveal things but also having to manage your energy for it. I thought that the can for the health was a battery at first so was a bit confused with that. It would have been nice to have some identifying features along the walls or floors to help the player figure out if they've been somewhere already or not. Definitely a good spooky atmosphere and pretty cool that you included different difficulties. Nice job overall.

Awesome game for your first game! Great that you added the possibility to change sensitivity. I had to bring it down a lot. But after that the controls felt comfortable. I wish there was a map or even some hints where to go.  And a way to fight back enemies.

Developer

yeah, that would be a good plus for the maze, my friend thought of it but time + me not being 100% with the idea we decided not to add the map and sign 😅 thanks for the feedback !

A maze full of zombies... my worst nightmare maybe. This made me really anxious, in a good way :)

I like the idea of using the light to make walls and floor disappear, that's a nice mechanic. Also the fact that some items don't do anything is interesting.

And I really liked the fact that you added several difficulty level, gives the possibility to replay the game.

On the downside, the controls are really clunky. Mouse sensitivity is way too high by default and I didn't find how to reduce it even though it is stated in the controls (pressing ESC only took me in and out of full screen mode, might be due to my browser I don't know)

Thanks for the fun anyways :)

Developer(+1)

it is because of browser, if you give a go at the downloadable version, you'll see better post processing because our walls don't look the way they actually should hahaha

but yeah we will take the mouse sensitivity into account next time

thanks for your kind review! merci😁

Submitted

All right I'll try the downloadable version then :)

Developer

super! :D

Lol, sorry about that, it looks like, I'm the one hasn't rated yet! nice game tho, but not a fan to horror genre XD

Developer

No worries haha

Yeah, horror isn't everyone's cup of tea 😅 but glad you gave it a try anyway

Nice idea to use the light as a mean to survive. I think htere is some potential for future development if you are willing to :). Maybe just the movement of the camera was quite fast and it was something to get used to.

Developer

well the camera would slow down if you went in the settings to lower your mouse sensitivity, then the camera wouldn't be as fast, or did you go as low as possible?

Submitted(+2)

Sadly my mouse/view spinned to one direction whenever i clicked. But i got the idea of the game and i like it, that you have to be extra careful and most important: to memorize some parts, spikes for example, for the case, the battery runs low, as mine quickly did. :)

Developer

Could that be because you have a bluetooth device connceted to your computer ? that might be a problem when you get in the game because I have had that problem in some games but disconnected my bluetooth device that was in the way :D

but thanks or the kind review though!

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

I don't have any bluetooth device connected. I needed to switch into fullscreen. Then it worked and i could play again for longer. Thanks! And i appreciate you for the difficulty settings. I don't like monsters. Traps and darkness are enough for me regarding horror games of this kind. :-)

Developer(+1)

that's why we thought different levels so people decide what they prefer and what they are comfortable with :)

still glad you enjoyed it !

I liked the whole vibe of the game being inside a creepy stone labyrinth, and I liked the mechanic of relying on your flashlight to see fake walls. I did like the fact I was able to change my sensitivity, since the game's default was way too high for my liking. I can see potential in your games lighting mechanic and I hope you expand on it a bit more in the future! Good job on a first jam submission!

Developer

Thank you very much for your comment!

I don't know yet if we will expand on it or try something else, since we are complete beginners haha but glad you were into the vibe!

Submitted(+2)

Pretty good idea, but I got really confused of what I should be doing. I picked the coin but didn't get what to do next.

Developer

it's a maze so basically find the exit

(+2)

the limit of flashlight and the sound rlly giving unsetteling vibe. 7/10 would scream again :D

Developer

ahha that's perfect! By the way, what would make it a 10/10 kinda game?

(1 edit) (+1)

one that could piss my pants

Submitted(+1)

Hey good game, I think this has real potential.

Submitted(+2)

I had goosebumps the entire time!! Love that the game let's the story tell itself and the threat of losing battery power really put pressure on me to use the light strategically! I wasn't sure at first whether it was going to be scary and when I first encountered the silhouette of something humanoid I had chills all over! incredible job! Well made game with effective graphics and effective audio! Great work!

Developer(+1)

That's what we aimed for! And I am so glad that you are thinking all of that! Thank you so much!

And also great job on your game as well!

Submitted(+2)

Hey, nice idea for a 3D game, the horror aspect was nicely executed good job!

Developer

thanks a lot!

And good job to you as well with your game! Really amazing !

Submitted(+2)

Atmosphere was very unsettling and fit the horror aesthetic of the game, good job! :)

Developer

thank you so much! That's what we tried to go for and I'm glad you also think so !
