How does your game fit the theme?
The theme of the jam is "An end is a new beginning" which sounds very cyclic in nature. To express this, I made the game an endless runner that has no end. Even when the player "dies", they start again as though they were playing game-version of what happened before.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Besides the code used to run the Unity game engine, all the code is my own. To be efficient with my time, I decided to use only what I had bought from the Unity Asset Store. The only asset I created was the main character.

I don't know why but this reminds me so much of "The Butterfly Effect". Good job on the graphics.

The browser version was laggy 😭

very fun game! i like how the world curves alot like in games like subway surfers for example. maybe if you work on it later you could make the world more rounder instead of being a kind of poly circle if that makes sense. maybe if there was a way to skip the cutscene at the start (sorry if there is) because watching it when i die over and over gets a little annoying. but over all its very good! check out mine if you like!

Old Road Mesh

[If you look closely, you can see the player character in the middle. This road model is much small than the one in-game]

Thanks for the feedback. There definitely wasn't a way to skip the cutscene, one of biggest gripes with the game. Something I now realise could have been an easy fix. Funnily enough, I did start off the project with my own model of an infinite road, but I thought the shaders that I was using weren't going to work well with it. I'll definitely see if I can get the old one to work, because it was actually much easier to work with. (Something I want to talk about in a post after the jam is over).

Thank you for the reply! I did want to make a spherical map using shaders but i didn't do it for some reason but i think that may be the best way to go (of course i dont want to tell you what to do obviously). i cant wait to see the fixes and maybe more content later if you do it!

Developer(+1)

No, you're right. A spherical map would be better. After all the feedback, I definitely want to make some improvements.

Hey, a really cool and SMOOTH endless runner! I love how you did the endless aspect, and how you rotate the world to slowly endlessly appear. Impressive stuff.

Having a 000000000 scoreboard may be a little optimistic since you gain like 1 point per second.

I'd recommend giving the player like 100 points instead of 1, that always looks better.

But I really like it, awesome!!

Good point about the scoring. Definitely a bit ambitious.

Should be an easy fix. Thanks for pointing that out.

Nice work overall!

Nice concept, even if I find the relationship with the theme a bit far-fetched ^^.

I love the setup, and the fact that you had time for a intro cutscene is amazing (but I must admit that I would have loved to retry without seeing it ^^') ! The circular effect of the world is also a neat idea, and really adds to the quality of your game!

The game itself is a bit simple, the movement felt a bit slow, but overall, it's still a nice little entry. Good job =)

If he can run this fast, I don't think he really needs to take the bus

I really like the aesthetics but they were a little too saturated, also can do better with the movement mechanics

It's fun. Things that I noticed is that everytime I restart, I have to watch the cutscene I could not skip it. if I press ESC, it crash the game.

If you have time, please review my game as well, that would be awesome.

Subway surfers but with less responsive controls heh. Takes too long to try again

I loved the look of the city and how fast you moved through it

Submitted(+1)

It's too hard, but I still enjoyed playing it. Also would like to skip the cutscene. Try out my game and rate it!

The gameplay is simple and the story is a nice touch. It takes way too long to restart, having to go through the cutscene every time, which makes replaying a chore. The city is nice and the music is good but a bit loud. Nice job!

I love the visual storytelling.

I can see the effort which went into this game, especially the aesthetic and the city models. But maybe a better character model?

Submitted(+1)

Really liked the city you built and the effects of it. Although a character model would be nice and something different in terms of gameplay each time you die
