We had a lot of fun testing your game during our live stream today, here is a link to the video archive if you missed it or wish to check again:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFx5tA14Nyc&t=4130s

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! The browser version sometimes doesn't recognise when you press buttons so you have to refresh the page, also the T is drawn wrong in the browser version as you pointed out, but I didn't find out how to fix it .

Unqiue idea and fun to play! I like the retro visuals and audio. A bit challenging but I think I got the hang of it after a few plays.

challenging game, a polished game too, great job

Pretty challenging, but a fun and well polished game! Has a pleasant sense of quirkiness to it :)

And that's how I learned a bit about biochemistry. Very well-polished little game. Everything fits very well together and I like the style. As mentioned below I would just start with a slower speed and increase it gradually to make it more forgiving in the beginning when still getting used to the controls. And I personally would really wish that there would be something more to it, as after 10 tries it gets quite repetitive. Maybe match in a rhythm or mix the colors and letters or even run two tracks in parallel to add more challenge. But I think that's not what you were aiming for in this jam. Overall, nice little game and a solid entry, well done!

Thanks! The plan actually was to make something change as you proceed. I intended to make it so that the pairs you had to connect would change every n points, but I figured it would be too much to make in such a short period of time.

Really fun! I love the graphics and the humor. The timing is actually perfect once I got used to the controls, too.  Also I like how it shows you a little icon of what mistakes you made at the end. Great job! :)

Super fun but hard as nails! Love the polish and the game feel on this game--little touches like the fast-paced and witty instructions and the "mistakes" review at the end make this game shine. The art was satisfying, too!

Submitted(+1)

Seems like a fun concept but it starts out far too fast to learn properly. I'd much rather click on the correct answer rather than try and remember which letter is which number too.

Developer

Thanks for the tip! I guess my intention was to make the game difficult, but I could add a difficulty level to choose.

Super game, love the graphics and the music!

So simple and so fun to play! My reflex is much better now :)

Amazing game, congratulations!

Cool fast paced game. Original and looks simplistically good.

My guy took four eyes a bit too literal and grew two more eyes.

This was a lot of fun! I'm not very good at it, but man did I enjoy it. Also, I think it's hilarious that my guy's mutation was a totally normal human.

2 arms? Oh the humanity!

Developer

Thanks! Haha yeah that was supposed to mean two MORE arms, I guess I should've made that a bit more clear.

My best score 68 ! It's a mind breaker. Simple but efficient, it respect the theme. I like the PICO-8 style. Well polished. Great game.

This is a fun, short reaction game with a slick sense of style. Lovely! One bit of advice, the intro text writing noises and music are a bit annoying, but other than that, great work!

Developer

Thanks for the tip! I've struggled a bit with making the text sound effect not be annoying and the music was a bit rushed so it might've turned out annoying.

I was a biochemistry student and found this so interesting hahaha. I spent some time figuring out which button to press too. I like the simple but challenging mechanic! May introduce the RNA system, which the nucleotides are G, U, A, C to introduce some more variety or change the corresponding nucleotide of 1, 2, 3, 4 to make it even more challenging. Overall, it's a nice work!

The game looks really cute and I had a lot of fun playing it, you could probably ship it to mobile! :)

If you were looking to extend this game, maybe consider having a fictional DNA system, with more varieties! Cheers!

A super simple yet super stressful game! I really enjoyed it, the polish work on it is amazing, and the little quotes at the score screen got a few laughs for sure.

Its a cool small Hyper Casual Game. It needed a bit of time until i found out which buttons i had to press for the right pairs. However after that it was fun to play. Maybe you can make the G and C pairs rounded to make it more obvious, G & C and A & T are together?

Developer

Good suggestion! I'll try it out!

Submitted(+1)

Very simple yet very addicting. Nice work! What do you do when there's an empty space? Is there a button to skip?

Developer (1 edit)

There shouldn't be an empty space... Might be an HTML bug :( I had that error when trying to export to HTML, but I thought I fixed it. Do you get only 1 empty space per game?

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

It happens only sometimes. I'll try again and let you know.

EDIT: I can't seem to reproduce it now. Did you update it?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

No I didn't update. HTML is weird so it might've been caused by that. Thanks for the info though!

Strange. Glad I could help.

Very short, but very cool game
