The Violet Illness's itch.io page

Please list here any trigger warnings your entry may contain:
Use of violence resulting in injury [nothing graphic, descriptions not detailed, convenient angles employed], technically one time drug and poison use.

How does your entry meet the theme of the jam (Red Oni, Blue Oni trope)?
Well, besides being colour coded for your convenience, the main theme is violet so blue+red [this one was a coincidence, though] and uses a not-so-subtle reference to a certain pair from a certain old cartoon... Due to plot reasons our Red Oni isn't as energetic as he should be but I think their dynamic as a duo is pretty obvious when you look at it. And they speak differently.

Dang, the tragedy </3 Poor humans (or half-humans). You created a longing and gritty atmosphere and yet the light sound design fits so well. Kind of telling the players 'yep it's hard but there's a strange beauty to it'. Honestly, I love(d) to write such situations and pairings - especially the more open-ended version of it - so reading it was great and reminded me of that.

Damn, that was... That was very tragic :') Beautiful images and even though I don't know the cartoon you are refering to and I only got to see the two for a short time, I really sympathized and might have sniffled a bit. (The menu is epic btw!)

Love me a good 'zombie' story and always a joy to be eaten on one's first kiss xD

Haha, I'm glad you sympathized with them despite the story being so short.

The cartoon in question in Nu, pogodi. The main characters there are also called Volk and Zayats. They're a known pair which is why they suit the jam theme.
