Why does the download file have the checkbox for "Linux" marked?

itch will not magically turn a windows binary into a Linux one, you have to build for that target platform and upload a separate version of it, too!

Developer (1 edit)

Sorry, that's an error from my side - I had some problems as it is my first upload here. The first one couldn't even be downloaded :) I'll fix that one!

EDIT: Aaaand Linux version should be available  to download now :)

Yes it works.

One thing you really should be adding would be some indication of speed. Maybe having some debris floating on the water, or some waves one way or another. If a real water shader is too complicated, just a sprite or two would do already.

Developer

Thanks :) I am already working on debris, and the water. I have been learning how shaders work, so hopefully the water will get a nice effect. The speed indicator is new, I like the idea and will look into it :)

Unfortunately I didn't have time to rate this last night as I planned. I love your explosions...

Cute. Nice and simple scope for a jam. I would have liked some frame of reference for how fast I was going (maybe a variation water tile or something like that). I laughed at how you made the cheery "drunken sailor" sound depressing after you sink. Good job!

Very nice, simple and fun

Had to check this one out, Cool game!

Developer

Thanks :

Liked the shooting from both sides of your ship and overall great atmosphere, good mechanics and  nice job on the game

I had fun with this, enjoyed the pirate theming and thought the graphics and music worked together nicely.

One suggestion would be to add a little texture to the background as it was some times difficult to see how the ship was moving against the solid colour.

Developer

Thanks. Yea i agree, I am going to create a better water effect once i find a good way to do it 😊

Maybe an upgrade system would be nice, to have higher speed, more cannons etc but overall i liked the game and graphics too.

Developer

Thanks, I could see myself coming back to it and adding these systems when the jam is over 😊

Quite fun, I liked the multishots of cannonballs, it looked very nice and was satisfying to shoot.

Hey! Great game, the idea of "side attacks" was nice, and the movement felt "ship like" :D

Developer

Thanks :)

Nice game ! Really liked the sound and visual effects.

Developer

Thanks, I wanted it to match the Pirate theme as much as I could :)

Good game and cool art! Definitely a challenge when you can only shoot from sides :D Though I find it very hard to survive because ships are as fast as you are making it impossible to turn once they are on your tail

Developer

Thanks :) yea I should have added some sea mines for those chasing you :)

This is one of the more fun submissions I've played in the game jam so far!  I actually didn't know I could shoot for quite some time and was just playing tag, then I noticed "Score" and tried to ram one and eventually pressed space and then the game got a lot more fun, haha!  Top-down shooter where you can't shoot head on is a pretty unique mechanic and I enjoyed it a lot!  Thanks for your submission!

I had fun playing it, got potential. More variance, auto-shoot, etc. would be nice tho :)

Great job! I would have liked to see more variety of enemies, but the game is fun.

Fantastic game. I love the explosion effect, good choice!

The intro music, made me smile instantly :D

Nice survival game. I sank with first hit, maybe that is too rough :p

Great stuff!

Fun highscore game with an overall consistent artstyle and music to match!
at the very least its a great starting point to build upon, and its already a fun highscore game.
Btw adding autoshoot (Keep key pressed to shoot) or a ammunition mechanic for it to make more sense the have to click would be interesting.

Submitted(+1)

Good job! I like the art style and the fact you added second language as option! I would have liked if there was an option to auto shoot as I found myself spamming space bar. Would be nice to have different color enemy ships maybe different sizes, health and speed, just to add extra difficulty to the game :)

Developer

Thanks :) Added the second language for my kids, and to see how localization works in Godot. Holding the space key does fire the cannons as soon as they are ready.

This long! This is how long I can survive against the endless horde of merchant ships. Honestly a lot of them weren't that interested in attacking me, from what I could tell. But the ones who were gave me difficulties.

A nice implementation of the theme. :) I really liked the explosion effect on connecting with a shot or destroying an enemy ship.

The music works well as a menu piece, but for a game which is all about surviving as long as possible, it got a bit repetitive. :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yea I agree. I had planned to add obstacles and other enemy types :)
