That got out of control fast! Really great concept you've got here

I really like the concept of very different out of control cars. But the large hitboxes kind of spoil the fun. Also I wasn't really sure where is a parking area and where isn't. Good job nonetheless.

Thanks for playing! The hitboxes were unfortunately a major mess-up very last minute, but I will work on making it clearer that the light blue areas are the parking spaces in future updates. Thanks for the feedback!

Fun little game,
could play though the whole 50 cars if it werent for the huge hitboxes,

I felt a bit cheated when I lost two cars because they got closer than 1 meter to each other,
going by the usual parking spaces, you need to be able to park them closer than possible in this game.

Also the music gets way to loud, a mute button ingame would be awesome

other than that, a great game

Great concept, love the potential here. The risk/reward with the way you manage parking spaces is a nice mechanic, and I love the random defects. As for criticisms, everything Tonyl said is pretty spot on.

Maybe a handbrake would be a fun addition because the low traction car is the most fun by far - I think going forward, really think about what challenge each particular car brings and potential fun and unique moves/situations you could picture them in.

A great submission, congrats on completing it!

The fast drifting car is sweet!

Hey that was really cool! i really liked the idea... You could have added some sfx, screenshake and particles to make it "feel" better though... Good Luck!

Thanks for playing and thanks for the suggestions! Will definitely try to add those if I continue development :)

It resembles real-life (sometimes)

This was an absolute chaotic mess of a time. I loved it. The hit boxes feel a little unforgiving, but other than that. You set the tone great. I know this take a lot of time and work, more than the jam allows, but I would love if the music dynamically moved onto the more chaotic parts of the song based on how many cars were "parked / crashed"

Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed! The hitboxes were unfortunately a last minute mess-up, but I love the idea of speeding up the song based on how many cars are parked! Will definitely be giving that an attempt if I continue development on this :)

This game's idea is very promising! I was looking forward to playing it, but there were quite a few things I didn't like:

  • The hitboxes. Even if you want the game to be hard, it needs to be fair. Each car should have a hitbox of its size or smaller, definitely not bigger.
  • 50 cars. That's quite a lot for a game jam game. Try to aim for a shorter experience next time - less cars and perhaps a smaller map.
  • Car progression. I think it would be better to have eazier cars in the beginning, rump up the difficulty over time.
  • The music. I found it fitting at first, but it became too agressive later. When I'm reading the car's description, I don't want to feel all that thrill. Maybe lower the volume when there's no action?
  • Car names. They don't have much of a purpose currently (they are random), but they could match the description for some eazier and faster reading!

I'm writing all this because I think your game could totally be a very fun one with a few improvements :). Keep it up and good job!

Thanks so much for the feedback! The hitbox issue is especially frustrating because I changed the sprite for the cars last minute but didnt notice the hitboxes were wrong until 5 minutes until after the submission deadline (curse time constraints!). I'm planning to continue development after the jam and will definitely be taking all your suggestions onboard! Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Got to 23. Very fun game in my opinion. I think polishing the game a bit more by adding some cool effects would make the game even more appealing. Other than that, you did a fantastic job! Bravo!

Got 44, those beasts that come in like a rocket f_____ me over 3 times ;-)

Developer (1 edit)

A truly impressive score (My best is 13)! The rocket ones are my favourite, if I'd had more time I would have made you be able to customise the defects you get so I could do 100% rocket cars :)

They are fun, but playing it on keyboard and switching quickly from enter to the arrow keys did make it quite a bit more difficult

Cute idea, 50 cars is a little much though.
