I enjoyed the unique movement style. It is a bit annoying when a fly will spawn too far above your head to eat, but it's not that big of a deal and is still reachable when you're the big frog. The music change in particular was very good, and the game as a whole was pretty fun.
I had a good laugh haha, just when I was thinking that the game had nothing about scale ! really cool xD
Its a fun and enjoyable game, feels great to ram through the level when you are a giant frog , art style and musics all match the game style very well. its a solid game, congratz! :D
Thanks :) I'm glad you liked it so much :)
This was such a cute game.... There's not much to do if you're bad at it tho...Sometimes I got stuck cause I wasn't big and flies would either take too long to spawn or be too high... Went from 88 to 29.80 after a few tries xD That's not getting any lower I think lol
If you're up for trying again, the key to the lower time is to continue eating flies while you're large. Doing that, you can chain the power-up all the way to the end with a bit of luck. Glad you liked the game! Definitely have some work to do on the fly spawning though. I've been stuck like that myself a few times and it sucks :P
That's it... That was the key indeed lmao Still not 3 but I'm happy now xD
Nice job!!
very cute game! loved the touch of changing up the music in the different states
Haha, it was a nice fun game! Cute frog, sad flies xD
Loved the music for tiny frog (sweet & innocent) and large frog (boss mode xD)
My time was 57.07seconds.
Currently I see the game as a speedrun high score obtaining game. You could also include flies eaten as a metric for score generation rather than just the time. Or the number of times the frog turned massive.
For an additional challenge you could add some frog enemies like a snake slithering through the ground because currently there's no one to challenge the player - not the environment (hazards like fire/pits/wells/spikes can be included) nor the flies (they don't fly that high neither do they evade the frog's tongue which could be challenging). It would be interesting to navigate the area when you're tiny avoiding snakes or other hazards adding a tactical platformer feel to the game. Of course, when you're a boss you could just squish the snake. Also a timer or indication for how long you will be in this form would also be interesting to see.
I like all those ideas. Glad you liked the mechanic :) I think the timer for how long you're large would be a really nice addition, and I'm working on adding it as part of some tweaks. Also, I agree with the enemies. There's really only two places with a pit that the player can fall into, but some enemies would be cool. I'm working on putting a bee into it as a boss at the end.
Here's a sneak peek:
Looks great!
A really simple and fun game! I really like the hopping movement, and the frog is so cute! But after eating so many flies, things become SERIOUS and INTENSE. It's so funny LOL. Breaking through the blocks is also satisfying! My highest score was 16.32 seconds. I had so much fun playing! Great job!
Glad you had so much fun with it, and thought it was funny :)
A very nice little game! I quite enjoyed the contrast between being a little froggy duder, and a chunky rocking out beast of a boi. Very cute sound effects.
The gameplay is somewhat simple, so if you were to scope this up, I would love to see you explore the design space of potentially having a few areas where being small is actually an advantage; thus creating a push and pull between being massive or being smol.
That was the original idea. I actually coded in becoming small and becoming large, but in the end couldn't figure out a compelling reason to become small in the time frame I had. I would definitely like to look into it more!
I'm happy to hear it was considered! Best of luck with any post jam update stuff! :D
Very unique movement system! Also very fun twist.
I love the destruction you cause when powered up. I'm going back for a second time, but in my first run I got exactly 77.77 seconds, which I thought was impressive in of itself :D
hahaha, nice! A very lucky time!
Great game! Short, sweet, enjoyable to play and fitting the theme! I wish for more games like this on the jam!
Thanks for trying it out! Glad you liked it so much :)
The music change and the voices are so good! I had a huge grin on my face each time it happened. Especially the first time I was like "oh, OKAY, I see!" Really fun idea, great job!
Really cute and fun!
I had a giant smile on my face the first time "something special" happened. Cute little game!
Really glad you got a kick out of that :) Thanks for trying it out!
The dynamic music was splendid, it fit really well into your game. It was also really cute, nice job!
the sound effects were awesome lol i love how the huge frog felt to play as. i got 70 seconds
fun
What a great take on the theme! Music and sound effect transitions are so cool that adds great gameplay feel! I had really fun playing the game well done!
I liked it, its cute
I liked when I got to turn into a monster frog and destroy blocks! That was cool! It might be nice to get some sort of indicator bar for how close you are to mega mode! I got 116 seconds... so I'm not that good I guess. I often was waiting around for flies to spawn and stuff. But cute little sounds/frog jumping mechanic!
I like the idea of an indicator, for sure. Thank for playing!
This is cute! The movement mechanics take a bit to get used to but only because they're creative, so that's definitely not a bad thing. Nice work!
