It was a fun little game, and I'd love to see it developed into a larger scale strategy game. It could have a lot of potential.
Cute game. Great art. Fun story. I guess the story fits the theme although the gameplay doesn't unless you consider the meters to be a scale which would be very difficult to argue. Either way it was very good and enjoyable.
Great idea, I felt really good playing the game. However, I had problems with the audio. Besides, the game played really slow
Which OS & browser were you using, and what exactly do you mean by "the game played really slow"? Was it slow to react after clicking on a choice?
I had a problem with my computer drivers, updating it fixed the problem. Thanks for your prompt response!
What a clever game! I think I managed to get all the endings. I love the storytelling and little bits of worldbuilding you’ve sprinkled in; I replayed it several times to make sure I got all the potential situations. I also love the strategy and morality elements.
I think this could make for a really neat, larger-scale strategy game, where things like exactitude and funds mean more than just status bars - but it also works great as a smaller, stand-alone experience. I would love to see some gameplay elements actually related to creating a map; I think there’s some untapped potential there.
Plus, the map you’ve created is beautiful and the lighting only adds to it. Excellent work!
What a smart idea and stylish! Really well done!
Incredibly beautiful map and artstyle, great writing, too. I wish the map had more to do with the actual gameplay. Still a very interesting entry.
I enjoyed every second, and I managed to survive the lack of popular support in the very last month. Very nice entry! The only flaw for me is that I wished all the graphics were done in pixel art because the map is very beautiful.
An intelligent and stylish submission! The short story was perfect for this format, which I never would have thought! Your art work is excellent, probably my favorite part, and your writing really nailed the tone. You did such a great job on this piece, easily my favorite submission so far!!
I LOVE map-based games! The art style and music are well chosen and implemented, and the concept of the game is really creative!
Thank you for introducing the short story, I’ve never seen it before but I love the idea it conveys.
The game feels polished, well executed and complete, well done!
This game was really interesting and much more immediately accessible than I was anticipating. Felt like the difficulty was perfect. I loved how you breathed life into different parts of the map through narrative, albeit I think more noticeably varied graphics in different areas would have been a great addition to the narrative. Music was also a great choice!
Guess I'm an imprecise, unproductive, but very wealthy and popular mapmaker :)
One of my favourite short stories brought to life. Great storytelling, gorgeous graphics and atmospheric music. Couldn't be more different to ours, but my favourite (and highest rated) of the jam so far!!
Didn't think I'd ever enjoy a primarily narrative game tbh
The storyline is peak fiction. Every single desicison was damn interesting and really made me think. Both for the map and to keep the various meters in check. The writing in general was good
I'm sort of on the fence on the questions being mostly randomised though. On one hand, I think it's great because everyone's playthrough will definitely be different, but I also think it may lead to some situations where you're effectively screwed and get sent to jail no matter what, though this is probably just nitpicky anyway
Loved the art and overall presentation though. Minimalism at it's absolute best.
All in all, this is very damn well made and a pretty damn interesting game. Well done
Not really my type of game, but still really cool.
Agree. But still interesting style!
i adore the concept of such a monumentous task... really liked the game!
Love that when I just ignored both what I was supposed to do and the people I just instantly became the new emperor with no effort! This was one of those games I have a hard time of finding anything to even critique, it's just the full package and everything works together.
Glad to hear that at least one person found the coup ending!
Really great art and aesthetic! also a really cool choice of story .
yes.
I enjoyed this, it was good fun. The game is was really pretty and the whole thing felt really put together. I especially liked how there was an almost stone texture under the in game map coupled with the music gave the game a very ancient world flare. Only feedback I have is that I think some of the choices were not super clear on which attributes would be affected.
Curse the emperor for sending me into exile multiple times haha.
Amazing game, loved the atmosphere and the narrative. Great job!
