The music and art is charming. Once you've implemented the feedback I'm reading here, I'd be keen to come back and play it more. As it stands there's a few undocumented features that Deeperbeige brought up, so I ended up just brute forcing the answer.
Perhaps fill out just one space, to give people a head start, and possibility to figure it out from fewer guesses. Also, the fact that a token can be in the right place, but also considered adjacent by another token is confusing. E.g. guessing two ravens next to each other, only one of them actually exists - the other one says that it's adjacent, which confuses me and makes me waste a guess, when really the 'adjacent' token is the one I correctly guessed. (It especially makes omens where "pieces must be adjacent" difficult to use as hints)
I love Mastermind, and I could love this too. I'm staying tuned to this game's updates :)
Very nice. I like the music, and I feel you did well with the overall theming. I feel like knowing how many of each symbol there are could have been nice, though that might have made it a good deal easier.
I was able to beat extra hard in 18 guesses on my first try. More importantly though, I'm quite happy I was (after many attempts) able to beat easy in 3 tries.
Nice job! That's around half of my best attempt at easy :)
I really enjoyed this, despite a few flaws. The rules aren't quite explained at the start. Some things I think I've figured out include:
I found to presentation to be reasonably good, but the font is hard to read. Given how important the rules are to the gameplay, I'd have liked the text to be a little easier to read!
I love the way correct guesses are locked, and that you can't select symbols that are completely found. Both great quality-of-life enhancements.
The music is fitting, but I'd still like to be able to turn it off!
Very minor niggle, but the "correct" ping and the "incorrect" ping feel the wrong way round to me.
Another minor niggle, but you can run off the bottom of the guess history on the harder levels. Maybe add a drag-to-scroll control? Edit: Just realised you can scroll this with the mouse wheel but it's really slow!
Love the way the difficulty is increased. More symbols, bigger grids, even more symbols.
It's quite difficult, even at the lower levels. I love that there's no failure though.
Might have been easier (and you could turn this on/off for another difficulty level) to give totals for each symbol.
Overall, a really fun game. Well done for making it in the strictest time limit.
Thank you for all of the suggestions! We are planning to develop the game further, so they will be extremely helpful.
This is well presented. The music and the art make for a relaxing experience, and the theming works well with the game mechanics.
I would have loved to be able to access the How To Play screen from an in game menu, to use as reference. And some further explanation of the numbers on the board would also have been useful.
Good job!
Thanks for the feedback! It's always so hard to know how confusing your games are without time to get other people to playtest :)
Cool challenging little puzzle game! I could easily see this expanded to be a mobile/web game. After seeing so many dice "get this side onto the end tile" puzzles, this one was a breath of fresh air.
Nice job!
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I've worked on a mobile game, so that could be a fun challenge :)
At first this reminded me of Sudoku, but it's actually more interesting and challenging. It was a bit hard to grasp the rules at the start, but trying things out helped understading the game. Enjoyable puzzle game overall!
Thanks for the feedback, that's a huge compliment! If we do a post-jam version, we'll definitely work on helping the player learn the rules :)
Rules are a bit confusing at first but I got the hang of it eventually, a more in depth tutorial might have helped. Great Work.
Thanks for the feedback. My co-developer hates tutorials, so I fought for the how to play screen! I'll pass this comment on to him :)
I like the music, and the sfx are really great; gives the game a nice calming vibe. the puzzles are fun and interesting – my best scores in each mode are 7/10/24/23
Glad to hear you had a good time :) Thanks for the feedback!
I manage to solve an easy one. It requires a lot of thinking but you'll feel so satisfied when you guess everything right.
It's great to see a well thought out puzzle game in this jam. Sometimes it felt like it came down to guessing/process of elimination but I think that this game is very pleasant overall. :)
Thanks for the feedback! We went back and forth about how much guessing to leave in, so we'll definitely reconsider it if we work on a post-jam version.
Hey nice game! I enjoyed playing this puzzle game and the fact that it's randomly generated means people can play this without ever running out of rounds to play! I'll admit I'm not very good at these types of games, but this one was nice to try out and the music was very soothing and pleasant to listen too.
Very well done! I could see this becoming a bigger game that could possibly be sold one day!
Glad to hear that you had a good time! Your comment got us talking about developing this further :)
Surprisingly complex and well-thought. The theme with the omens is very fitting and interesting. Had to guess a few time but I managed to beat some rounds. Overall nice work!
Thanks for the feedback :)
Loved this concept, had a few fun rounds! Did get stuck in some situations where the rules were objectively exhausted and the only thing that remained was a guessing game -- but overall a great experience, and would totally play a well curated daily version of something like this!! Also, incredible music.
Thanks for the feedback. Glad you had a good time!
