Aaargh, killed by Mashroom Satan! Like your game music and graphics style. Have a very good introduction to what is it about by that chat with the dwarf in the beginning. The movement  feels bit odd as to move far in one direction you need to mash the same button over again and screen jumps from tile to tile. Nice transitions between screens. No idea why fight has 'do nothing' option? also shortcuts in fight does not work for me.

Developer

Hello! Thank you for trying our game and for the kind words! It means a lot.
The movement is made to be like that but you dont have to spam keys, you can just hold em :)) And the letters near skills are more like indicators for attack(A) and defense(D)

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! Yea, the "do nothing" option was more for development purposes, and the letter before actions is the action type (a bit unintuitive) [A] for Attack, [D] for Defense. Thx again for playing the game!

Hi!

I streamed your game, the recording can be found here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sjk_9wKGbuk

As one of the stream watchers said:

In JRPG, even a tooth should have a cool green haircut.

Here is a list of random thoughts about the game:

  • The art style is cool. The control hints and some other style decisions reminded me of “Baba is You” game a bit. :D

  • The boss said something about me killing its kin. This made me think about the Undertale game, so I tried to walk toward the boss without killing anyone. They still seemed to be unimpressed. :D

  • The skill hotkeys don’t seem to be working. Also, all attack skills are labeled with [A] which is weird. :D Or maybe it’s not a hotkey but rather an “action category” like “A for attack”?

  • It was quite hard to get to 100% power and be able to beat the boss, but I found the starts. :D

  • I noticed that the credits section is empty.

  • If I change the volume settings and go back to the options screen, it looks like they reset even though the actual sound level looks the same.

  • It’s very unclear whether we can do anything apart from fighting a mushroom mob and boss in the dungeon. There are many tiles, but none of them seem to be interactive.

  • The dwarf mentions the campfires, but I only remember one - near the spawn location. Is that right?

  • I’m not sure if “attack” stat actually affected the damage. My understanding is that it just unlocks new skills at some threshold values.

  • Is there anything about the entrance warning message that I’m missing? It feels like I failed to reveal its true meaning. :)

Update: I actually cloned a game repo and browsed it in Godot. It looks like there is nothing beyond the boss. :D So that damn dwarf told a lie! There is no hope for escape!

I enjoyed playing this game, and especially liked the dark, overgrown dungeon theme. The map design and lighting effects were nice, the pixel art was beautiful, and the in-battle visuals were very charming. Playing with the pokemon-esque battle sequences and skill system was also fun; although the randomness felt a bit harsh at first, it was manageable. I also got a laugh out of “Mushroom Satan”, but then he killed me, so I guess I deserved that…

Thank you so much for playing it! Glad you enjoyed it!

very hard, well made, but the difficulty is way over my head. maybe I did something wrong, but I die every second enemy...

Music is awesome!

Thank you so much for he comment!
It was made to be difficult :))

Developer(+1)

Thx! Yea, we didn't have time to implement much stuff so we went for absurd difficulty :)) There's a really high chance Mushroom Satan (the level boss) kills you even if you're maxed and use the best attacks :)) (btw, u can heal at campfires)
