What did you update?
We've made some mechanics more comfortable, like buttons for actions (no need to click many times to repeat the action). Also there are some UI improvements and bug fixes.

How hard is it to understand all mechanics?

Idea is kinda simple to graps, but the indication is somewhat confusing.
For example - it says that 1) 24 water in the ground 2) takes 14 water per turn, 3) What does -3 mean here?

Also, there's a toolbar with watering can, scissors etc - it would be nice to have currently selected tool indicated somehow.

Is tutorial window helpful?

Definitely! The only thing to add there would be a hint to what does it take to win the competition.

Is it fun at all?

I was confused, which let many plants to die, so I dropped it pretty quick.
But I feel like can be a fun game if given better UI/Indication, sound FX/music and some cute animations of like, plants growing, cash coming in, maybe something in a background.

I wanted to play your game, but you only have it for Windows only; I’m on Linux. I tried running it in Wine but this seems to have failed. I don’t know enough about UE4 games to know to work around this. This is also something I don’t expect you to do anything about because I’m by far the part of the minority of the addressable gaming market.

Given that, I didn’t leave you a rating, even though I wanted to return the favor.

Hello! It's ok) Thanks for the comment anyway)

We used ue5 for this game. And from this first try we understood that we absolutely need a web version. So for our new game we used ue 4.23.1, that supports html5. When we return to Callisia project we'll try to migrate it to ue4 too.

Seems like it could be a good relaxing game, but I agree with the poster below, the game needs urgently an introduction and better UI to let the player understand better what's happening. Also even if its not your objective to add music, click/confirmation sounds for the UI would help navigation as sometimes I don't know if the buttons are actually working. Good luck!

Thanks for playing! We'll add sounds in the next iteration. And certainly work on UI..

My plants all died :(

Just like real life 😂

I want to be really honest here, because I think you have the idea of a great game.

I wasn't sure what the root number truly represented, or how it spread, or how it contributed to the plant.

I also wasn't sure what the water droplet represented, or how fast it would go up.

Nor the sun symbol, and what that represented or how it was affected.

I didn't really understand the water absorption stats when I clicked a plant either.

So either needs lots of work on a tutorial - like giving the player a single plant and stepping them through how to make it grow REALLY WELL!

Or lots of work on the UX/UI to make sure the player knows what they're doing is having an effect and on what.

The other suggestions below are great - definitely need sounds, some chill music and it will be a great chill game.

Btw, we found it really helped watching people play our game. I wondered if you would like to see how I play so I can give you some live feedback?

Let me know or add me on discord - aegis_sbs :)

Thank you for playing and for the suggestions! We'll definitely continue to work on ui/ux and especially on the beginning of the game..

And thank you for the offer to give some live feedback! I'd be grateful. If I may I'll write you when we make some changes by feedback that we got during this jam.

I love this kind of games! That was interesting and fun to play, easy to start, though I am not sure if I understand all the mechanics and core gameplay correctly :D But it looks so promising! And I got some Strange Horticulture vibes :)

Couple of things that I would love to comment on:

  • Our goal is to grow rare plants to win. Are all the plants rare? Do they vary in rarity? It would be great to check it somewhere, but maybe I just didn't notice it :)
  • What is the exact condition to win? Should my plants reach some certain size? I have grown some plants and apparently send them to the exhibition, but nothing happened after that...I was just broke and without my plants :D Would be great to have some feedback if you didn't succeed or need to do something else!
  • I like that there is a tutorial, and it is quite detailed for me. Though I doubt that you would call this kind of information "help" :D It is not the additional information that you have to check, but the crucial info to play the game! I think it would be quite helpful for it to be implemented right into the gameplay :) Like we could learn to water plants and notice our mistakes while doing that.
  • That would be so cool to have more impact from the buttons — they could be different color when clicked (right now the change is pretty subtle), or there could be some sound as well. I kept forgetting which button I have clicked, constantly!
  • Would love to have sounds and music in general :) It would add so much to the atmosphere!
  • Sometimes it was a bit unclear where should I exactly click (when planting the flowers, for example). Maybe it would be convenient to have a visual hint for that.
  • After playing I definitely want to learn more about these plants! Would be awesome to have an ingame journal where you could know more about them :)

Thank you for this experience!

Hello! Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm really grateful for so many cool ideas for improvement. Especially for the last one, plants are my passion and I'm happy to see that the game increases interest in the theme, and the idea of journal should help to implement it even better. We'll surely work on all of your suggestions and will try our best to make the game better.

Thank you for playing!

I really enjoyed your game! The concept is super interesting, and after a few minutes, I was able to figure out how everything works and what I needed to do. It was a lot of fun exploring and figuring things out!

The game state is clear, and you get all the necessary information, but I think it would be great to have some UX/UI features, like showing which tool is currently selected and highlighting the square the player is hovering over.

One thing that felt a bit frustrating was when a plant would disappear immediately if over-watered. It might help to give the player a little time and options to save the plants when they make a mistake, rather than having them rot away instantly.

Overall, this could become a really cool game if you plan to develop it further! :)

Hello! Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

We'll definitely work on ui, it's still not friendly.. Also, it's nice idea to make some extra rounds before plant's death, thank you, we'll add it.

I'm really happy that you liked it! We'll try our best to improve the game)

Hi there, I played your game. I'm not too much into this kind of strategy turn based slow games, with a very simple task. But, I kind of enjoyed it, I could grow some plants but never did understand completely how it worked. I believe a strong tutorial is needed. Also, I suggest to speed up the exhibition process, I think it takes too much time.
Do not know if it was me, but no audio at all was detected
