The animations and artstyle is so dynamic and expressive, and the themes and writing are so impactful, really loved this submission. I would protect crowchild with my life.
This was SO cute! I think crows are cute in general, so I just knew it would be right up my alley! The story was so sweet, and I loved seeing the Crowchild (who I named Necky, after a Donkey Kong Country boss) interact with the human characters. Very charming dialogue!
The art style is so unique! It's so fitting how everyone has a sort of paper look to them, and the UI work is nice as well. Overall I'm super impressed by this, great job! ^^
Nice job! Love the story! :) gonna come back and play around more!
And if I cried about the little trash baby when then.....
This was such a sweet game! I loved the crows' manner of speech. The Crowmother's sort of archaic speech was very charming, and I liked Crowchild's adorable pluck! Also really enjoyed all the references to the garbage that Crowchild is made of, haha. I only got the one ending (presumably the best one?) and while I usually like to play for multiple endings, I really don't want to see a bad ending for little Crowchild haha;;;
I liked how each character's story was touched on! This feels like the perfect amount of game; not too much, and not too little. The story was told excellently within the short time frame that you had for it.
Thanks for sharing this game with us!!
(also I'm going to repost this comment on the actual itch page to help with visibility!)
This game is so cute! The character expressions are amazing! I loved how our crowchild was hopping on the shoulders of the other character! The ending was so heartwarming!
Thank you for making this game!
An adorable and touching little story with an endearing cast of characters. The writing was fantastic and the papercraft influences were a wonderful artistic touch. You can feel so much love, warmth and care emanate from this game.
Highly recommend everyone give this title a moment of their time. Thank you for making this!
A touching narrative with endearing characters. I’m not ashamed to admit that I cried at the end. The mixed-media presentation is lovely. The collage-like paper cutout characters juxtaposed against loose, impressionistic backgrounds create a unique and charming aesthetic. Music is well-composed and aptly chosen. It enhances the resonance of each scene, immersing you further into the world of the characters. I really enjoyed this game!
A really really sweet game. I was feeling very emotional by the end, Crowmother's words rly spoke to me. I think my beloved baby crowchild, Peanut Butter, has a very good design, and I was immediately very attached to him, and I likely will be for the rest of my life. I think the music fit very well, and I really loved how much we learned about the characters, without it feeling overwhelming or forced. Yall did a great job :)))
A really cute game with a great message. I enjoyed it a lot! Good work!
Oh, I love how cozy this game! I named my Crowchild as "Raeven" I forgot it's a crow not a raven wwww
I teared up at the end, when Crowchild told Crowmother about the new friends who helped it to make its body parts (and its name is "Raeven," but I chose that www) and Crowmother was proud of it and assured she would never force it to be what it doesn't want to be :')
I named Crowchild as Crowey. And stook to it, the entire game. Best decision ever.
I just loved the feeling, the vibe of the entire game. The way the interpersonal relationships you make along the way affect you and those around you, and how the very begining puts in question both, who you are, and who you owe your existence too, for in the end, your existence being acknowledged as a true individual. The psicologic concept behind the game is exquisite, and is approached with much care and love, in a way I've never seen before.
I could talk about the lovely graphic style, the music, the dynamic of how the characters, specially Crowchild, moves, but heck, that all goes to second place against what I said above. Thank you for putting up such a lovely game out!
I really enjoyed this game a lot. The characters was charming, I really like Crowchild and I got quite a way in, the rhyming verses in the beginning had me cackling as it was so good to hear, and so funny. I find Quyen and Teddy really fun characters too.
I had a really weird error midway through where I just didn't know why it froze and I wasn't able to click continue and play the game or pick either of the choices. I documented the error as I was streaming as I was playing it.
Thanks so much for playing, and for streaming! I'm so glad that the characters resonated with you. I've looked into that error, and wasn't able to replicate it - I'm glad you were recording! I'll continue fiddling around and see what happens - the browser version has been acting a little fiddly, but if you were using something else I unfortunately have no idea at the moment -__-
Regardless, thanks again so much, & happy spooktober!!
I was using the windows downloaded version for it. I'll see if the browser version has the same error.
Oh my stars and garters, this is my favorite entry!! Quite apart from my own personal biases toward rhyming corvids and "physical-body-comprised-of-???" puzzles (which, very very unexpected 🤝, haha), every single inch of this game is filled to the brim with heart and beauty. I adored the terrific, unique character designs, the music is warm and lovely, and the story speaks so well to the overextended "gifted" kids and the insecure "things come hard" kids both, without belaboring either point. And--as a parent myself--the ending made me cry in the very best of ways, without being maudlin or sticky-sentimental. 🥲 What an absolute treasure Trashwing Crowchild is; thank you for a wonderful game!!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! I'm super happy to hear that the right balance of emotions and genuine-ness was struck! Figuring out that blend was tricky, but I'm really glad to see that it was able to resonate (especially in a fellow lover of corvid rhymes).
Happy halloween!
Ahh, man, well, this was one I was pretty excited to play, and I was pretty certain I'd love it, which I do <3 There's something very special about all of your spooktober projects that I've played. They're the most heartwarming, fuzzy-inducing games I've ever come across x3 And this one is no exception!
In response to what you said about me nailing creepy and unnerving, you absolutely nail feel-good fuzzy adorableness every time with these spooktober projects of yours :3 To me, they feel like a warm, accepting hug, haha. In fact, I actually go back to Mothdude every now and then if I'm feeling down!
Everything about this exudes warmth and care, from the charming art to the heartfelt story and the musical accompaniments. It just emanates those 'everything's going to be okay' kinda vibes. I played through this a few times to pick different choices and stuff before bed, and I feel like I can sleep soundly it's relaxed me so much :3 The tenderness level is off the charts, haha.
Also, I have to say that the lil animations and stuff are gorgeous, and the puzzles were fun without being too challenging, though I saw you put a guide up on the page, which is much appreciated too!
Aaaand, even though it has nothing to do with me, one line of yours in particular (and I hope it's not a spoiler to reference it here >.<) was just one of those lines that gave me an emotional gut punch just cos of how much it resonated with me x3
It's the "And I like what I do, and I want to do it all and more, but I'm so, so tired." part that got me!
That's pretty much how I feel about trying to make VNs, haha. I absolutely adore it, and I want to keep doing it forever (while hopefully improving over time), but I'm also painfully aware of how much I end up hurting myself in the process through sheer obsession and lack of sleep x3 I am, so, so tired, haha. Nothing I do is ever good enough for my stupid brain >.< Replace hanging out with Maria and Jaime with simply, playing video games, and you have my life xD I give myself permission to pause and play Spooktober games, and then that's pretty much it. I wish I could remember how to switch off and play more stuff like I used to!
Anyways, I'm gonna shut up because I've left a giant wall of text here that I can only apologise for x3 Just know that I really appreciate this project of yours as well as your others! They're a real breath of fresh air :3
Thank you so much - your comments always mean a ton!!!! I'm so happy that that vibe is able to come through - it makes me really happy to hear, and the continued love for Mothdude is honestly really incredible to see / hear. It's definitely a cozy comfort to replay on this end too :) Making another that can land that way is success in my book!
A lot went into some of those heavier lines, so I'm glad that they were able to strike a chord. Creating can always be a struggle, no matter how much you love it - & glad to see that you're still creating too!!
I loved this! I've never played anything with this particular vibes~ so thoughtful and fun. I really liked the paper doll style and the UI, great job!

Precious lil game with a precious lil guy. Really great character designs and background arts, with well constructed, yet a bit crude animations. UI felt very stylish and appropriate for the mood. Story does a nice job of dealing with the existential themes of existence, and the characters managed to make me feel a good bit along the way. Now I want a lil crowchild on my shoulder.
I love himbs so much :'))))))))))) By far one of my favorites, Crowchild managed to pull on my heartstrings oml this cute lil BEBY
Scrapbook styled art is also very very interesting, kinda like a children's book which is very adorable :>
Thanks so much!! Glad it resonated - scrapbook-y art felt fitting for a patchwork protagonist :)
Beautifully drawn! The concepts were well executed, the sounds were really serviceable and enhanced the experience! What caught my attention even more was the character designs I fell in love with em!
Great job! A very beautiful and well-designed visual novel!
