Hello!

Do you mind adding an open source LICENCE file to your github repo?  That is the #1 rule of Open Jam.    Also did you use any other open source tools?  Or could you add a Linux build?  Right now you have 3/5 open source karma points:

+1 Blendar

+1 Krita

+1 github

You can get up to 5 karma points, and you are missing a possible 2 points,  if you used any other open source tools, or if you can add a CC licence to your assets, or add a linux build all will get you +1 open source karma points each.

Fixed, thanks!

Hey Everyone!

Congrats to everyone who participated on Open Jam 2019! Everyone who participated is a FOSS hero!

A couple of items of business: 1. Late submissions. Itch.io submission deadline is hard and unfeeling and it shuts of the second the time passes. We however as hosts aren't hard and unfeeling :). If you just missed the deadline never fear! We can generate you a late submission link. Just email me: jsprague@redhat.com, or chat (@hosts) in discord, a link to your game and I'll generate you a link. https://itch.io/docs/creators/game-jams#the-submission-process/late-submissions

2. Voting starts now! You can start playing and rating games immediately, and voting ends in 7 days. Please be patient with peoples entries as there may be bugs. Post constructive comments. You can fix blocking bugs during the voting phase as we want people to play your game!

3. Judging. The hosts will be going through each entry and awarding Open Source Karma to each entry as a comment as outlined in the rules page: https://itch.io/jam/open-jam-2019 The top 3 games with (Overall + Open Source Karma) will be featured at All Things Open conference later this month. Note games need at least 10 ratings to qualify, so make sure to play and rate as many games as you can!

Congrats again and THANK YOU for joining!

Let me know if you have any questions!

- Jared

Yep! I've updated the rules to make that clear:

  • You can create or use your own assets or use existing, openly licensed assets (e.g., Creative Commons)."

Also if you license your own assets that you use under Creative Commons you'll get extra Open Source Karma points at the end.

Thanks for catching that! Fixed!

This is a great idea!  @mwcz is working on licencing the Open Jam logo under CC,  for now plan on being able to use it in your game.  :)

Welcome!!!

Hello!  That’s totally fine.  I would just recommend  checking that’s cool with the other jam you’re submitting to.

Hey Open Jammers!

Now that Open Jam is over,  I'd like to invite you to all to contribute to another Open Source game project that @mwcz and I are working on for the Command Line Heroes podcast.   We are in need of all types of contributions and you guys are the best since you already love open source games! This game will have very high visibility as this a very popular award winning podcast and it will also be featured at Red Hat Summit next year!

As part of this project we are working on creating an Open Source HTML5 adventure game engine based on Tiled and Phaser3 called Hero Engine.  This engine will be used to create "Command Line Heroes: The Game" announced on Episode 1 of Season 2 of the Command Line Heroes Podcast, also Open Jam is discussed in this episode!

Come join our discord server and check out the github project

Sure no problem!  Just send me your mailing address to jsprague@redhat.com

Hey All!

Thank you all so much for participating in Open Jam!  To show our appreciation for everyone who submitted a game, we'd like to send you some free Open Jam stickers.   Just fill out this google form:

You earned 3 Open Source Karma Stars!

I award you the non-official "FOSS SPIRIT" award for your impressive list of FOSS tools!  And 100% open source built game! :)

Hi!   The jam main page here explains how Open Source Karma points are awarded:  https://itch.io/jam/open-jam-2018

But to save you some time I'll post the Open Source Karma score chart here:

For your entry the only match I could find was for Audacity,  so you got 1 star for that.

Hey did you have a public git repo for this?  I see you used gitlab in your tools, but I don't see a link to a repo.   Want to make sure you get credit for your Open Source Karma.

Hello Open Jammers!

There is just 24 hours left to play and rate games for Open Jam 2018!  There are just a few games that have under the 10 rating minimum to qualify for All Things Open,  so if we could really use everyone's help to rate these last games:

https://itch.io/jam/open-jam-2018/unrated

Thanks to everyone who have already played and commented on games!

Also Open Source Karma has been awarded to almost every game,  so login and check how many stars your game got.  We've seen so much more use of open source this year it's amazing!

Top ranked games will be announced after voting ends and we have had time to calculate the final scores based on Open Source Karma.

You earned 1 Open Source Karma Stars!

Hey!  You already have a star for your web build.  You get a 1 star if your game runs on linux or web because they are open platforms.  but you don't get two stars if you have a linux and web build,  it's just 1 star for an open platform, and you already got it for web.

Hey!  Actually you did have a web build that worked that I forgot to add a star for so thanks for pointing that out!  Here is what you got stars for:

1 for github repo with good README

1 for blender

1 for game playable in browser
