My plan is for the game to reach a beta state at some point, from that moment it'll be possible to maintain save game compatibility.
When is is beta? Whenever all characters are implemented and their stages and events have caught up to each other.

My main focus is on my other game, Fattening Career.
So whenever I finish a Fattening Career update, I put a few days/weeks into developing this game further.

I am not sure what the max sizes will be eventually, that kinda depends on the software and how it will look at these bigger sizes. Having said that, the characters will still grow a substantial amount from their current max size.

Did you play the game from a new save? And have you progressed through the stages enough to unlock the costume stream?

The bodytype parameter in the stats page should give you some idea of what gain that character will have.

There is no browser version.

You'll have to play for a while to get the characters to a weight. It kind of depends on how often you hang out with them and how much food you give them.

You can make another type of food at the dinner after reading a book about it.

There is a money cheat button in the options screen while ingame.

Choices that influence a character like Lyn/Leanne take a very long time to develop, so these won't appear often.
There will be more smaller choices in future updates.

In the next update it'll be a lot easier to ignore phone calls, so it is a bit easier to avoid some girls.
Weight loss is very low on my priorities list.

I think you are right on the money with your comment about the 3rd ingredient following a different pattern in how the hints are worded which makes it a bit frustrating, I'll be changing that to be similar to the first two ingredients.

Going back home is just an indicator to show that you went on to the next day, there might be a better way to do that.

The costume contest is not available on the steam version, it is on the itch and patreon versions though.

Did you download the game from somewhere else?
I highly recommend to only download the game from the official sources, itch, steam and patreon. Because you never know if people tamper with the files.

I would love to tell you that using old saves is fine, but sadly the only way I can guarantee you aren't missing any content or running into bugs is by creating a new save.
