I did not, in fact, escape the unholy city. Fun concept for a game, and I think it'd be cool to play a longer version of this, maybe one where you get to play longer stretches of time before "they" stop you again. Running into the traffic accident reminded me a bit of The Truman Show, which does feel like a good comparison for the escaping-inescapable-circumstances plot at least.
In the end, I think it works out well to keep this game short, because it avoids the issue of making the constant waking-up feel annoying.
A fun way to work the whole playlist in together, reading this feels like if people watching got a massive upgrade. I like that it feels like a collection of short stories, and that each story has a unique identity rather than blending into the whole. The UI layout is cute too, and feels just barely reminiscent of looking at a seating plan for a train car or an airplane.
Really interesting concept, and a great sense of atmosphere. I have no experience with Catholic tradition so I think I might be missing a little bit of the experience that way... everyone gets 1 Our Father and 1 Hail Mary from this confessional, haha.
Small comment: the audio was very loud for me, turning it down or offering a mute option might be nice.
Very unsettling, haunting atmosphere in this game. I would consider adding a trigger/content warning for depression and/or suicidal ideation. As someone with clinical depression, I found this really upsetting to play because of the main character's attitude and comments.
Otherwise, extremely creative use of the songs in such a small space. The end is deeply unsettling.
Very interesting place to go from the song! Reminds me a bit of older literature with a similar slow pace and limited dialogue. I think the story leaves me with a bit of vague, lingering discomfort. Nothing gets resolved here, because it's just two people refusing to acknowledge whatever has happened between them. I think it leaves me wishing there was something I could do about that.
I just really love wizards...
Great interpretation of the song lyrics, and very cute/fun way to integrate the magic. I like the little magic book supplement and the little character hints in it as well. The relationship between our two space wizards is very charming, and definitely carries the story. Endings 4&5 felt very nice. 💜💜
Very cool and fun way to interpret the song! I love the characterization of "Lola" and "Joseph" and the way their personas contrast with their real personalities. The POV switching works well in this story, and the font changes make it easy to read without getting confused. I'll make more comments on the seeds when it's SeedComp voting time 💜
Really creative interpretation of the song! It's one of my favorites. I found the main character's circumstances pretty mysterious even after trying a few endings; maybe that's the point. The choices presented and the consequences for some of them are really compelling, and that makes the replays feel more rewarding. The game feels a bit like a prologue to a much larger story, in that it answers some questions and leaves others unanswered.
Thank you so much for your comment!! That's so kind of you. 💜 Spoilery answer:

I don't know if any of the endings are definitely the end. I like the way the "Goodbye" ending wraps things up, but for those MCs that might not be enough, and they could certainly go looking for more like the other high belief MC. I also thought about variations on the endings where high belief MCs find Caspian first, but he finds low belief MCs first, and their conversations would differ accordingly. I don't think that meeting couldn't still happen for low belief MCs, but I decided not to write it this time. 💜
Thank you so much for taking the time! These should all be corrected now - I'm not sure exactly what happened with the stats problem on your second run, but I did find that there was an incorrect stat variable in the [Fierce] choice during the childhood memory. As far as needing to clear your cache, I think that would be an issue with the Twine Engine struggling with storage or memory. I'll see if there's anything I can do to clean this up in v1.2.
Thank you for reporting! These issues are now corrected in the current version, so play on!
Thank you so much, and don't worry! I have a really hard time reading my own writing, so it's been really challenging to track all the errors on my own, haha. Now that I'm aware of the most common ones, they shouldn't be an issue in future updates. :)
Odd! Do let me know if it happens again; I tested it myself and it worked as intended. If it was just on the page where your dad says your name for the first time, it might be an issue with running the LiveUpdate feature? If it was still wrong the second time he says your name, it might be something I did, haha.
Thanks for letting me know! Can you give me more details on how this is happening? Normally, the way this function should work is you select the [input] option, click the Next Page button, and then the input name popup appears. When you type your name in, you need to click the "Save Name" button to update your name on the page; clicking the "X" on the popup will not save your changes.
Hey guys! I understand there may be some (or several) errors in the game code! I may not have checked every path or combination of paths, so I'm sure there's some issues I missed. You can use this thread to report any issues you run into, and I will get them addressed in the 1.2 patch update!
Screenshots are always helpful, as are descriptions of what happened or what you've done before encountering a bug.
Thank you so much!
