Yeah, that was a last second change that we didn't have time to fix.. sorry about that haha!
thanks for playing though!
nice little game, i see that you said this was only done in 2 days at the end of the jam so for that its not bad at all! I loved the CRT Curved TV type effect, normally you don't see it in platformers but it made it feel unique, first time I fell down I was like woaaahhh.
Obviously i can tell a some things can improve(can get out of bounds, level timer, reptitive wall background etc) but i guess it was because you were out of time. but the stuff you did implement work pretty well. Good job!
pretty fun, nice fx!
my game starting behaving weird around the part where you pick up the pink thing that allows you to kill the red thing. first time it just crashed when i went into him, and then afterwards it just seems that it was inconsistent in all kinds of behaviours of when it respawns me back?
overall cool tho, sad i couldn't get through :(
Honestly this game has a ton of potential, at first i didn't even believe it was made only for this game jam since it looks very good.
But it took me very long to even realize what i was suppose to do, and even when i did it seems like the creatures attacking the heart didn't really do anything? Basically i didn't need to do anything and you never lose. I don't understand if its some bug or something since they seem to not even shoot at the heart, but at the ground above them.
Overall i rated it highly, i just wish it was more clear and there was an ending/progression/challenge to the game because as I played it right now you never lose even if you suicide to the underroot creatures.
Was about to comment here that I have a bug that space bar isn't working LMAOO
Pretty nice game idea, very cursed visuals and music which fit the theme well. loved the cursed cats and the white dude, and the "falling upside down" was really funny :D.
I would say the thing that bothered me most was that the hitboxes were a bit iffy. Sometimes the sprites of the character and obstacles don't even overlap at all and you still die.
Another thing is that flying up when you are on a moving platform doesn't really make you fly, which kinda makes the controls inconsistent and hard to control
Also some extra sound effects here and there could have helped it become more spooky.
Good job!
ah. i guess i missed that. i managed to play it and i want to say a couple of things:
at first it was nice, it became increasingly difficult over time and each time i failed and restarted i got more and more efficient with my time, however if you fuck up a tiny bit it costs a lot. i get that you have the emp for that but still. HOWEVER, and im guessing you know this but i figured out at one point you cant actually lose if you just focus on clearing enemies from 2 wagons instead of 3 since the third one being broken doesnt really do anything, im guessing you tried making the player want to save it by scaring him that his reload speed is falling but its actually not needed. so at that point the content of the game becomes stale since it stays the same practically forever. in general i would take inspiration from something like Dome Keeper to see how you could improve on this. but the base of the game is pretty nice.
Also a small thing about the cannon: at first it was a bit odd that i couldn't go 360 with the cannon and had to go all the way around to get from one bottom part to another.
regarding my starting experience that i couldn't find how to start the game: i feel like a simple outline on what can be interacted with would help with that, same thing with repairing health later on.
i also really liked the music, gave me original call of duty mw2 vibes haha.
overall i enjoyed it apart from my very first experience and whenever i solved how i can infinitely stay alive.
ah. we tried adding a bit more friction but felt that any more than what we currently had was a little bit unnatural as the charcter would come to a halt very quickly and would look odd. maybe we could have added a bit more though... thanks for the advice! these little things are what adds up to make a game feel good at the end of the day :)
You are supposed to jump at the green part on the side of the train that shows up with all the frogs on it at the very end of the 5 minutes. Although we do know that in hindsight we should have gave the player way more time to jump since its a one time thing, and if you accidently miss it it sucks to start over.
Thank you for playing!
Super polished, very fun game, smooth controls. The gameplay is fun, however it could defintely use some more mechanics in terms of new enemies or weapons or movement etc, i went through 5 levels where it was practically the same thing just harder with the exception of the frog level(which was a nice surprise :D).
overall it was really nice though! props!
Thank you! we are aware the browser version runs more poorly but it was playable enough to the point where we thought its fine to upload it like this.
the exit is a bit hard if you are on the first playthrough you are right, we noticed this at hindsight. although we have tried to make it clear with sound effects, and visual elements, probably not enough haha. checkpoint is a good idea. the dialogue was a last minute feature but i noticed that as well after submitting haha.
Thank you for playing!
nice game! whoever made the music popped off for sure :D graphics were nice as well.
although afaik there isn't really an ending for this game which leaves a little more to be desired. for what it is its nice but i just wish there was a reason to continue playing it. although it is seems very polished, and i didn't encounter any bugs. props!
