This is the Dark Soul of the game jam 😂
I think I retried about 12 times until I managed to get a score of 1270, then finally rage quit.

Seriously though this is one of my favorite games here, had tons of fun with it despite the difficulty. One criticism: would have been nice to see a description of each of the items somewhere. Still can't tell what the flower does (I'm guessing heals the planet?).

Loved the art style! The dice based rogue-like gameplay is also really interesting. I picked up the heal die but I think it might be a little bugged, the health I have left after healing and being damaged usually isn't correct.

By the way was this made for the GMTK game jam a week ago? :P

May wanna turn down the mouse sensitivity a little :P

Downloaded the zip but couldn't find an .exe to run the game. Is there another way?

The platforming is a little buggy, and I can't figure out where I'm supposed to go during each level. Nice job on the hand-drawn art though!

Loved the visuals! Also enjoyed trying to figure out the optimal route to plant as many seeds as possible before time runs out.

Very challenging game with cool visuals (although the glitch effect got a little much after playing for a while). One criticism though, is that it always felt frustrating falling on spikes or enemies that you can't see.

Btw not sure what to do at the bottom of the level with the large green and yellow circles. I even got stuck in a square hole at the bottom left corner and couldn't jump out. Cool game though!

Really love the visuals, and I like how the gameplay is super simple yet still very fun. I can tell from the screenshots that there are other levels too, but I can barely make it through the first one 😂

Really like how the dashing ability can be used both for maneuvering and for fighting. Visuals are beautiful too. Well done!

Thanks for the kind feedback!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree the ship controls could have been... a lot different from what it is 😅

That's a really weird bug. Thanks for pointing it out.

I actually had a lot more content planned for this game, like actually utilizing the tiles you bring back to create items, buildings and ship upgrades. But I severely underestimated the time that would need 🤷

thanks for the feedback! You can get back, just walk up to the ship and click on it again

Beautiful art and insane creativity dude. The jump of faith blew my mind. 5/5 stars on everything. Keep it up :)

Very clever and fun gameplay. Well done!

Really impressed by the game's polish and the diversity in enemy and weapon design, especially considering the short time given. Well done peeps 👏

Very clever and fun gameplay. Well done!

Sorry I've missed your comment this whole time 🤦‍♂️

I just recently made the game playable in the browser. Hope that solves it for you

Yup level 16 was the last level. Contemplating making a fully-fledged game out of this but glad you've enjoyed it this far :)

Loved the mood of this game, and particularly enjoyed the process of solving the puzzle with the cards. The leadup to realizing that the platforms you used to jump on are actually part of a puzzle is very cleverly done 👍

Being the colossally lazy person that I am, I've never really dabbled with version control before despite knowing how important it is for programmers.. Guess I'll do that once I finally get around to it.

Hello all! Thought I'd share my game's source project here in case anyone starting out with Unity would like to look at a real, existing project and learn a bit from it. The majority of the code is undocumented though but hopefully some of it is pretty straight forward. If not, I'm always open for questions.

PS to those more experienced with C#: I realize that the level of unclean and inefficient code in my project is too damn high, but in such a small time frame compromises had to be made. Also hey it'd probably be more encouraging for beginners to realize they don't need to be Jonathan Blow to make something decent and working. :P

If you've developed and showcased a game tonight, I hope you wouldn't mind sharing your source project too!

Hello! I'm Omar Khalil. You may remember me as the programmer behind Witch Co. from Global Game Jam 2016 (It's in my itch.io profile if you want to have a look). At the moment I'm currently working on a small Breakout clone with a twist: touching the ball with the paddle is bad, so you'll need to fling falling bricks towards the ball to keep it going. Here's a gif: http://i.imgur.com/j7Al0Zd

(give it a while to load... I have no idea how to make optimized high quality gifs).

I've had tons of fun during the last game jam and I'm really looking forward to this one. See you all very soon!
