Hello! I'm sorry, there are no plans to release the game on mobile :(

HELLO OMG HI you have no idea how exhilarating it feels to read someone be so passionate about the game! 😭✨

I have been working on it for three years and it pretty much consumed me and I'M NOT ALONE?  😭😭

Your analysis is honestly everything I could have hoped for and MORE—I did leave some things intentionally vague to let players come to their own conclusions AND WHEN SOMEONE DOES? Happy dance✨✨

(Small tangent of my own but it's also why I scrapped a big chunk of what was planned for the lorebook [and the reason it's not finished yet], because it would have been very 'this is how it is because I say so' but that isn't the vibe.)

And once again I am so grateful that Ascanio managed to make it as a love interest, the game would have been... another game completely, I think, without them 😭now I'm scared to think about it.

If you use the itchio app, the game should have patched automatically. 

If you downloaded and installed it manually, you'll need to download the new version. It should automatically detect the old savefiles :D

I might know what's causing this! Here's the fix that works for the Steam version—it's a bit involved:

  • Navigate to %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Rascal Devworks/Sigh of the Abyss/NaninovelData/Saves

The easiest way to find it is to click on your Windows icon, type %appdata% and open the file folder with the same name. It will open the Roaming sub-folder; click on AppData, then LocalLow. There should be a RascalDevworks folder there!

  • Backup of your saves, just in case!
  • Remove the globalsave & settings files;
  • Then do a fresh install of the game;

Autosaves

All your autosaves except for the one in the first slot might appear empty.
Workaround: navigate to the other autosave page & return. Your autosaves never left! They were hiding. Currently investigating a way to make them less shy.

How to report bugs

Quoting scene names / exact lines helps a ton in finding the spot where the issue is occurring. Briefly describing the scene, its name or what you did before is also helpful!

If the bug happens after you have made the choice TM (ending-related one), specifying which path you chose is very helpful!

I just pushed a patch that should fix the issue! I split the scene in two documents.

Loading the autosave made in the scene before Bowels of the Earth (that leads to BotE) should now let you access the scene in its entirety & let you save. Let me know if it works!

I am able to reproduce it, working on a fix!

Can you save normally during the rest of the scene, or is it only blocked when dreaming of the Abyss?

Removing the autosave is not an elegant solution, but I'm still trying to find what causes it to crash—it's the point where all the main choices made during the game converge, and there are... a lot of possibilities 😅

Are you able to save in the scene outside the Halls, before Alpheon says the line?

I might have found the issue, I'll push a hotfix that should let you access the end (but knowing if you can save is still valuable!)

I'm about to push a patch with some more fixes—if the workaround... works (pun of the century here), I should have already fixed the bug in a previous patch :)

I recommend using the itchio app to get the latest update. I did so much testing but I am one person, and there are so many little interactions between variables that some slipped through the cracks Q_Q

Looking into it, thank you for the report! 

Are you on the latest patch?

A couple more questions while I dig around the file: Did you accept Lapo's offer or not? Are in you in a romance with Alpheon or someone else? Did you already deal with the nightmares or is the farm issue the one you're tackling first?

(A possible workaround would be loading a savefile in the morning, before meeting Atri if it's your first day, and selecting 'I am relieved' when reflecting on the Refrain).

  • Fixed the 'black screen at launch' issue. This was caused by double clicking the exit button, which prompted a save file to override itself twice, fail to do so and get corrupted. The fix is unfortunately not retroactive ! 
  • Fixed a visual bug with Sylas' sprite after visiting her boss;
  • Fixed a misnamed variable in the confrontation in the D.  path;
  • Adjusted Lord Rizzo's epilogue line in the D. path to be more natural;
  • Fixed some scene transitions after the Festival—they should not accidentally spoil future illustrations/locations anymore;
  • The pages of the load menu and save menu are now synced!
  • Various text fixes;

  • Humor choices will now show choice text when selected with a controller;
  • Improved the map UI to give more feedback;
  • Fixed the video backgrounds acting up when dealing with Sylas' boss;
  • Fixed a bug that prevented some lines from showing during the A.  epilogue;
  • Fixed erroneous capitalization of some speakers during 'Deadly Dance';
  • Fixed a bug in the 'Primeval Mandate' scene;

  • Fixed a visual glitch with a phlegmatic protagonist in Deadly Dance;
  • Fixed a mismatch between written & voiced line in The Queen’s Dance;

  • You can now proceed through Divinity Confronted if Nessa taught you how to scry;

  • Fixed the ending scene in the  A. path. You are able to save in the scene now;
  • Fixed the scene that gives you a lead on the cove of a certain group. IMPORTANT : I had to split the scene into two documents. Load the autosave that leads to Bowels of the Earth to proceed;
  • Updated credits;
  • Various textfixes;
  • Better flow when preparing for the dance if you're in Malec's romance;
  • Removed mentions of Valerico during the dance if you’re not on friendly terms with him/have never met him;
  • Corrected the portrait of a servant in the kitchen scene during the dance;
  • Fixed a couple of speaker names being incorrectly capitalized;
  • Fixed characters being abnormally large in the scene after the dance, when in a romance with Alpheon;

  • Assorted text fixes;
  • Removed a line of raw code that showed as dialogue;
  • More appropriate background in the small scene with Sylas before you go into the cove;
  • Fixed missing arms/multiple arms;
  • Fix a crash that would happen when meeting the ruffians if you commissioned a new blouse;*
  • Fix a crash that would happen in Divinity confronted;**
  • The scrollbar in the codex is now unrestricted and should not snap back anymore;
  • Removed the autosaves at the end of the endings. This is acting as a temporary fix while I adjust the scene in the A. path;

* Loading a savefile at the Temple should let players proceed to the Rose, then the ruffian scene, without the autosave crashing the game.

Hello hello hello! The last patch for the premiere build significantly  improves the staging of most scenes in the game, restores some missing VA & squashes bugs that caused freezes!

Patch 04 - 11 Oct


Staging

  • Improved the staging of virtually the whole game. Something happened after the first export that offset the protagonist to the right. I manually corrected all her positions;

VA

  • Restored a missing voice line in the confrontation with the Abyss in the A.  path;
  • Restored a missing voice line in the confrontation with Laverna in the A.  path;
  • Amplified various lines;
  • Restored VA to Malec’s introduction;
  • Restored missing whisper lines in your first meeting with the siren;
  • Fixed VA in Aleste’s temple scene;
  • Restored a voiceline in the scene with the Prodigal One;

Text issues

  • Fixed various typos
  • Improved the flow of the conversation with Lord Rizzo;

Bugs

  • The 'Divinity Confronted' scene can now be accessed correctly;
  • The protagonist won’t lose an arm when healing Miché’s father;
  • Removed a candle that snuffed itself out on the day of the Everlasting Prime;
  • Fixed a bug that prevented you for accessing Marané's romance scene during the festival;
  • Fixed a bug that made you enter a relationship with Malec... in Marané's romance;
  • Fixed the Lady of Dreams messing up the staging during the Dance;
  • The M. path now triggers correctly;

  • Made gathering clues to understand the origin of the poison slightly more forgiving;
  • Fixed a bug that prevented Aleste's voiced scene from playing during the festival;
  • If you attend the duel after saving the child from the canal, your hair will be dry from the get-go;

Text fixes

  • Nessa will share more information about the poison if you personally kill  the lord;
  • Minor assorted text fixes;

  • Restored missing voice acting to the very first scenes with Malec and Atri;
  • Added voice acting to two more chapters of the game (the dance party, endings and epilogues are still a work in progress);
  • Minor fixes to Alpheon's first introduction (restored a missing voice line);

Text issues

  • Added some clarification to the diplomatic path with Valerico;
  • Fixed a codex tooltip when going to LaMarina;
  • Added some clarification to a conversation with Ascanio regarding the Halls' magick;
  • Added a line to make a scene with Sylas less abrupt if you're on friendly terms with Renza;
  • Changed the name of Sylas' first date event to be clearer;
  • A couple more assorted text fixes;

Other

  • Fixed the scene transition when returning to LaMarina;
  • Fixed character positions when returning from the docks;
  • Fixed the Envoy's cape sudden disappearance in Bástian's scene;
  • Made the background music in Alpheon's introduction smoother;
  • Made the background music in Enilia's introduction smoother;
  • Unlocking the romance preferences will now bring up the stat menu, so you can customize them right away!
  • After being jump scared by the bell one too many times, finally lowered its volume;
  • Atri respects your personal space now in your scene with her, after you have access to The Refrain;
  • Made the transition to the Halls' video background smoother;
  • Lowered the volume of the Halls' waterfall;
  • Fixed the Envoy's position when talking to the siren;


Known issues

  • Auto-saves misbehave. It looks like you only have one, and the rest of the page is empty. Temporary fix: go to the second page of auto-saves and return to the first. The auto-saves will be there again;

I adore the lush presentation, it's so immersive and cinematic. There's a touch of whimsy in the music, the leafling's sprite and her abode that really added to the charm.

Her little grumpy expression is so darling, too!

OMG! The options menu!! I'm so happy I opened it, it was such a nice surprise. And the little fies floating around like flowers!!

I really liked the writing and how intense the conversation felt in ye Olde English—I'm unfamiliar with Dragon Dogma 2, so I got Elden Ring vibes from it  :D

This was incredibly well done—so polished and made out of love <3

I really liked how subtly the main character's actions are conveyed, and how different the three endings are from each other.

Fullscreen would display a massive border around, so I increased the size of the viewport instead. It will hopefully be enough to improve readability!
