trema tomentosa, colloquially known as the poison peach, is a forest shrub native to australia. in the scope of all the earth’s plants, it’s not all that remarkable; its form is not enthralling, its microscopic fruit is not nourishing, and its timber is not practical. in fact, the name it’s most commonly given – poison – serves as persecution for its role in severe cattle mortality.
yes, as far as capital is concerned, it is a vile and wicked plant. yet from a different perspective it is also a plant with remarkable properties. its quick growth provides soil-shade and shelter to help establish other nursery species, its fruit is plentiful and nourishing for native birds, its presence is vital for conservation efforts.
the poison peach’s existence is not a burden, as it cultivates forests and nurtures songbirds. despite its reputation, its supposed lack of merit, its insignificance in the grand scheme of things, it is a plant of environmental stewardship . . .
trema schema is a small little digital spellbook. a zine that asks you, the player and practitioner to act alongside its rituals in order to thoughtfully promote stewardship in your life.
caring is the deliberate act of allocating resources for the benefit of others.
the past year has been an unimaginably hard one;
let’s care for and invest in each other.
