I explore the issues and forces that affect the lives of the youngest Angelenos and their families, from healthcare to childcare. It’s one of the most crucial periods of their lives — how do we ensure that kids 0-5 are set up to thrive?
I became a first-time mom in the throes of the pandemic in 2021, an experience that’s opened my eyes to the issues facing young children and their caregivers. I hope to help shed light into how important this early childhood period is in a person’s life for not just the individual, but for the stability of our society and democracy as a whole.
I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, and am excited to be reporting in a place I call home. Before coming to LAIst, I worked at NPR stations in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., where my focus was on healthcare, immigration and state politics. Before taking on the early childhood beat, I was on LAist’s investigations team.
