Can I install SQL Server 2022 Express on Surface Pro 11？

After installing SQL Server 2022 Express on Surface Pro 11, the instance cannot start correctly.

I think the answer is no. It seems that Surface Pro 11 uses the Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm which uses the ARM architecture. And SQL Server does not run on ARM.

Possibly you can run SQL Server on a Docker image. That's a recommendation commonly given to Mac users running on ARM. Whether this recommendation is applicable to the Surface Pro - no idea.

I got the tip from an MVP colleague that the way to go is the Prism emulation layer: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/apps-on-arm-x86-emulation. You probably need Windows 11 24H2.
