About Batch Mentions on Facebook
Batch mentions is an alert feature on Facebook that allows you to mention multiple people in a post, comment, video, story or reel. This can be useful if you want to get the attention of a group of people at once. The batch mentions available to use are:
  • @followers helps creators keep their followers informed on their latest updates.
  • @attendees helps the event host share updates with attendees.
  • @everyone helps group admins update group members.
  • @highlight helps users share moments and highlights to friends.
Who can see content with batch mentions
Only people who can already see your content will be able to see batch mentions. For example, if you make a post and only some of your friends can see it based on your audience selection, then those friends will be the only ones who can see a batch mention.
Batch mentions notifications
Facebook has rules to prevent spam and make sure that batch mentions aren’t overused.
Here are some reasons why someone won’t get a batch mention notification:
  • They are not in the audience for the batch mention.
  • They can’t see the original content.
  • They have turned off your batch mentions settings.
  • If they blocked you.
  • If they already received too many batch mentions notifications in one day, they won't receive any more.
Note: Facebook's Notifications AI system will also decide whether or not to send a notification. By predicting what’s most likely to be relevant and interesting, the AI system will automatically determine the order in which new notifications are displayed.
Who can use batch mentions
Not everyone can use batch mentions. Here are some reasons why you might not be able to use the feature:
  • You are not the owner of an event and can't use @attendees.
  • You are not an admin or moderator of a group and can't use @everyone.
  • You don't have any followers and can't use @followers.
Note: If a group is too large, it may not support batch mentions.
Batch mentions use limits
To prevent people from using batch mentions too much, there are limits on the feature. For example, you might only be able to use @followers once per day. If you reach this limit, you won't be able to use the feature again until the next day.
Turn off batch mentions
You can turn off all batch mentions notifications in your tag settings page. This means you won't receive any notifications when someone mentions you in a post or comment. You can also turn off batch mentions from a specific group.
