Application questions

[edit]
  • What is/are your main Wikimedia project(s) and how long have you been active in those projects? What languages are you comfortable communicating in?
  • What other Wikimedia volunteer obligations do you have? If we selected you to support a TWL partnership, how much time per week would you be willing to spend? Per month? Depending on your role, an average week may require 1–4 hours of work.
  • Does the Wikipedia project you want to coordinate in already has a Wikipedia Library branch and/or other similar projects?
  • Why do you want to volunteer with The Wikipedia Library?

Wikipedia Library Coordinators handle other editors' personal information at times; because of this coordinators may be asked to sign a standard confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation that includes your real name. Are you comfortable with this? If so, please continue on and tell us more about your background and interest in helping out!

  • What is/are your main Wikimedia project(s) and how long have you been active in those projects?

I am mainly active in Kurdish/Turkish related topics. I am also a bit active at Women in Red.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in?

English and German, but I am not interested in contributing to the German Wikipedia.

  • What other Wikimedia volunteer obligations do you have?

I have the rollback rights and therefore I go to check the recent changes page at times.

  • If we selected you to support a TWL partnership, how much time per week would you be willing to spend? Per month? Depending on your role, an average week may require 1–4 hours of work.

I am usually everyday online several hours and if a reasonable request for help comes, I am available.

  • Does the Wikipedia project you want to coordinate in already have a Wikipedia Library branch and/or other similar projects?

I don't know. I am piling up an online archive on as to me good books on Kurds available. It is getting more and more extensive, but it is still modest. Here you can have a look at it.

  • Why do you want to volunteer with The Wikipedia Library?

I wanted to be librarian in several stages of my life, was several times a librarian as a volunteer, but when I applied for a paid job as a librarian I was rejected. So as I found out about this library, why not apply again? Paradise Chronicle (talk) 01:02, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Does the Wikipedia project you want to coordinate in already has a Wikipedia Library branch and/or other similar projects?
  • Yes at idwiki, but still in its infancy; no for minwiki.
  • Why do you want to volunteer with The Wikipedia Library?

  • What is/are your main Wikimedia project(s) and how long have you been active in those projects? What languages are you comfortable communicating in?
My main Wikimedia Project is Farsi Wikipedia, but I sometimes translate and contribute in Meta as well. I've been active in Farsi Wikipedia for the last 6 years, and am comfortable with Farsi (fa-N) and English (en-4).
  • What other Wikimedia volunteer obligations do you have? If we selected you to support a TWL partnership, how much time per week would you be willing to spend? Per month? Depending on your role, an average week may require 1–4 hours of work.
I'm a VTRS agent, and a license reviewer in FaWiki. I'm willing to spend at least 6 hours a week volunteering for TWL.
  • Does the Wikipedia project you want to coordinate in already has a Wikipedia Library branch and/or other similar projects?
Yes, Farsi Wikipedia has three local coordinators, but afaik, only one of them is active atm.
  • Why do you want to volunteer with The Wikipedia Library?
I would like to help the TWL, just as TWL has helped me with its great pool of resources. I want to help wherever and whenever it's needed, but I'd be more than happy to help as an account or global coordinator.--Arian Talk 07:17, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My main Wikimedia project is Romanian Wikipedia, but I also have some minor contributions to Romanian Wiktionary. I have been using the current account since July 19, 2011. I feel comfortable communicating in Romanian (my mother tongue), French, English, and modern Greek.
  • What other Wikimedia volunteer obligations do you have? If we selected you to support a TWL partnership, how much time per week would you be willing to spend? Per month? Depending on your role, an average week may require 1–4 hours of work.
I am an administrator of my home project (Romanian Wikipedia) since 2014. I could spend up to 8 hours per week if selected to support a TWL partnership, i.e. up to 35 hours per month.
  • Does the Wikipedia project you want to coordinate in already has a Wikipedia Library branch and/or other similar projects?
Romanian Wikipedia doesn't have a TWL branch yet or other similar projects. As far as I know, there is only a special Book Sources page collecting some useful links to library catalogs and other online sources.
  • Why do you want to volunteer with The Wikipedia Library?
There is an increasing interest in TWL on Romanian Wikipedia. Basic documentation should be translated and made available to Romanian readers. I would like to contribute to the building of a local TWL branch. --Pafsanias (talk) 10:14, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Pafsanias! Thanks for your interest in helping out. If you wanted to take on translating some of the documentation that would be fantastic. You can find info on how to do that at Translating:Library Card Platform. You can also suggest collections that would be of interest to your community. My main Wikimedia project is the German Wikipedia, and I’ve been active there since December 2025. I’m comfortable communicating in both German and English.
  • What other Wikimedia volunteer obligations do you have? If we selected you to support a TWL partnership, how much time per week would you be willing to spend? Per month? Depending on your role, an average week may require 1–4 hours of work.
I don’t have other Wikimedia volunteer obligations and would be able to volunteer on average up to four hours a week.
  • Does the Wikipedia project you want to coordinate in already has a Wikipedia Library branch and/or other similar projects?
Yes, it is https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:F%C3%B6rderung/The_Wikipedia_Library
  • Why do you want to volunteer with The Wikipedia Library?
For me, the greatest appeal of Wikimedia lies in making knowledge freely accessible. The Wikipedia library makes a great contribution to this, which I would like to support. Based on my professional background, I can also help to pitch publishers to be partners in your access donation program. --Wedderkop (talk) 23:18, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
