My old Steam Delisted Text-Based Games : Ports or Remasters ?

Hello everyone.

While I have the project to release my old Steam Delisted Text-Based Games to itch.io. I don’t know if I should do a straight port from the steam version or a remaster with QoL improvements? I wanted to do remasters at first but, knowing myself and how perfectionist I can be for my projects, it might turn out into complete stories’ rewriting. That would be (another!) remake of a remake and I don’t want that. I had done enough remakes already. I don’t mind doing slight updates to the Ren’py games, like splitting the languages so no more bilingual dual screen.

Anyway, what should it be? Ports or Remasters ?

As a Steam buyer of 4 Alice Magical Autistic Girls, I suggest a port first and see the result. It will give you data on the fitness or not of a straigt port, and if, ultimately, a remaster is needed or not.

Maybe ports at first for the sake of preservation, then make remasters down the line?

This is a good idea. A port is much simpler too. I download the game on Steam, put it in a .zip and it's ready for itch. Doing remasters involve getting the source files back by decrypting all games (yes, I was dumb back then and deleted all my projects files!), then re-work on them.

EDIT: Also, I'm so wrong. Splitting the languages in renpy is a lot of work. More then 100 hours! I will leave the games as-is for now.
