How to Contact UsBMENET central services, the backbone network, and the access network (which connects the department networks to the backbone nodes) are operated, maintained and developed by the Directorate of Informatics (IIG) (formerly TIO, EISZK, EIK). The edge of the access network is the "entrance" of the departments. Internal networks of organisational units (departments, dormitories, etc.) are operated by the units themselves. The local system administrator can help with things related to departments' or dormitories' internal networks. TroubleshootingNetwork related problems and questions are dealt with by organizational units' system administrators and by IIG, whichever the affected network or service belongs to. Please choose the appropriate one according to those mentioned in the previous paragraphs. Please note that the English language oral skills of our operators
are limited. We kindly ask you to use e-mail for
error reports if possible.
IIG runs its network operations center, staffed in working hours (Mon-Thu 8:00-17:00, Fri 8:00-14:30). Error reports about the BMENET backbone and central services are received by the on-duty operator on the 16-16 extension (dial +36 1 463-16-16 from outside of the university). The on-duty operator provides level one support in the error resolution process, and will also contact another engineer if needed. You can also contact our helpdesk via e-mail at helpdesk@eik.bme.hu. O365, BME címtárPlease contact support@login.bme.hu if you have probles registering for Office365 or logging in with BME címtár (directory). Professional adviceIIG staff will be glad to help departments with the operation of their internal networks and services by giving professional advice. The sysman@ mailing list of the BME system administrators is a very useful forum too. (Most of IIG staff are also members of the sysman@ list.) We strongly advise system administrators to subscribe to the sysman@ list, because in addition to the possibility of sharing work related experience and seeking advice, IIG also makes announcements about BMENET, scheduled maintenance, etc. on this list. http://net.bme.hu/Comments about the contents of this website should be sent to helpdesk@eik.bme.hu. |
