Nice retro game! Interesting choice to use Pico-8.
Overall, it was fun. I wish there was a way to get back hearts though (maybe there is but I just didn't get far enough XD). I also wish the enemies were a bit bigger to make it easier to hit them, especially the boss.
This is a pretty fun game didn't expect to have a boss fight at the end, it was a pleasant surprise. I would add a progress bar or a score counter to give the incentive to keep playing the game otherwise someone might leave before they get to the boss fight. Great work! Keep it up!

Thanks for your return. There is indeed no way to recover life, except when you beat the first boss.
Nice game. I really like the addition of the extra birds during the boss fight to increase the challenge after you get used to how the boss attacks.
