Unlocking the Power of Copilot in Power Automate: Part I

Copilot in Power Automate enables you to describe a flow you wish to create from scratch and also provides assistance in enhancing and modifying your existing flows.

Using natural language, you can describe your requirements in a conversational multi-step process. Copilot will suggest a flow for you, including triggers, actions, and conditions. You can review the suggested flow and either accept it or ask Copilot for a better suggestion. After the flow is created, you can continue discussing with Copilot and request any changes or enhancements until you achieve the desired results.

Additionally, you can ask Copilot questions about your flow. For instance, you can request Copilot to document your cloud flow and explain its functionality. This can be especially helpful when you’re working with a large flow created by someone else or even by yourself, but you’ve forgotten its functionality and need a quick understanding in order to modify it or address an issue.

Now let’s explore Copilot in cloud flows in action:

  1. Sign in to Power Automate

Under the homepage, there’s copilot where you can enter in natural language what you wanted your flow to do.

b. You can also select one of the AI generated suggested flow descriptions based on your entry.

d. If you want another suggestion, you can click “Show a different suggestion” at the bottom, and then Copilot will try again and provide you with another flow suggestion.

g. You can see Copilot is still displayed on the right side of the screen, so you can keep asking it to help you modify and enhance your flow. Note that If Copilot’s suggestions don’t meet your requirements, you can always click the “Undo” button. It will remove any changes Copilot made to your flow.

h. After you’ve designed your desired flow, click on ‘Flow Checker’ to list any errors in your flow. This way, you can address and fix them.

i. While fixing the errors, you can ask Copilot for help. For example, you can ask it to explain an action’s parameters or guide you on fixing a specific error.

j. Additionally, you can ask Copilot to describe what this flow does, or ask any questions about your flow that could provide further clarity.
