Proton supports students in the US, UK, France, and Germany with discounts

Students today must learn to safely navigate the internet to conduct research, engage in academic discussions, or prepare for their future jobs. However, as we’ve repeatedly seen, cybersecurity can be tricky, even for professionals well into their careers

To help students protect themselves online, we’re offering discounts on our paid Mail Plus, Drive Plus, and VPN Plus plans as well as our Unlimited plan. We’re also making Proton Pass Plus free for all students. This offer applies to anyone studying at university, college, sixth form, high school, or as an apprentice in the US, UK, France, and Germany. As long as you can prove your student status to Student Beans(yeni pencere) (for example, with a photo of your student ID), you qualify for this offer.

Create an account with Student Beans, verify your student status, and you choose your preferred student offer from one of our Proton products or our bundle plan—and enjoy up to 80% off!

We explain more about our student discounts below.

Students and the internet

The internet is invaluable and unavoidable for students. A simple search can replace hours of sifting through the library (assuming you know where to find trustworthy sources). Schools also rely on online services, like learning platforms, note-taking apps, and digital libraries, to make work and courses available to students everywhere.

Most students rely on the internet as their preferred way of communicating with friends and family. Universities and schools also encourage students to learn how to make the most of the internet, but this can force young people into taking charge of their cybersecurity. With the growing number of cyberthreats and data breaches, protecting that information is critical — not just for today, but for the rest of your life.

What we’re offering to students

Through our partner Student Beans, we’re offering the chance for students in the US, UK, France and Germany to receive exclusive discounts on their chosen Proton plan. Please note that students are eligible to claim up to two years of Pass Plus for free (the first year is available through Student Beans and an additional year can be claimed by referring two friends to Proton Pass) while all other plans offer a one-time discount.

Proton Pass Plus free for all students

Simply applying to a university can require you to create numerous accounts. If you’re in the US, you’ll likely need to create an online account to take the SAT or ACT and potentially one with each university you’re applying to. Each of these accounts can contain sensitive information, like your date of birth, address, grades, attendance records, and more.

Proton Pass Plus offers the best tools to protect your online accounts. You can use our password manager to create strong unique passwords, the fundamental defense for all of your accounts. Using secure links, you can also safely share information, such as Netflix credentials.

Proton Pass Plus offers:

Proton Mail Plus 80% off ($1/m) for 1 month

Email is an irreplaceable part of managing your life, from applying to universities and corresponding to professors to applying for jobs and setting up interviews. If you’re not using an end-to-end encrypted email service, all your messages can be scanned(yeni pencere) and shared with third-party advertisers

Using Proton Mail Plus gives you access to our end-to-end encrypted email service with additional features for everyday communication. You can customize your inbox for easy information management, and add your own custom email domain if you’re running a club on campus, or building out your personal brand.

Proton Mail Plus offers:

Proton Drive Plus 50% off ($1.99/m) for 12 months

As a student, you begin accumulating important documents that you’ll need throughout life. From ID, social security cards, and insurance documents to class schedules, notes, and diplomas, it’s vital to stay organized.

Proton Drive Plus offers a privacy-first solution to securely store and share your documents and photos. With 200 GB of cloud storage, file recovery for up to 10 years, and an integrated online document editor, you’ll have everything you need to stay organized across any device. Plus, you can safeguard your privacy from the start by keeping your files away from Big Tech.

Proton Drive Plus offers:

  • 200 GB storage
  • Cloud backup for important files
  • Photo backup to free up phone space and organize your pictures
  • Online document editor
  • Recover all previous file versions for 10 years, ensuring you never lose past work

Proton VPN Plus 50% off ($2.49/m) for 12 months

You’ll need to connect to WiFi to work, but the connection you’re using on campus or in your dorm might not be secure. Proton VPN hides your IP address so you can browse the web privately. By using a VPN, you can avoid censorship, access websites that might be blocked in your country, and bypass your school’s content blocks. We recommend using a secure VPN if you connect to a school WiFi network because there’s no guarantee that it’ll be secure.

Proton VPN Plus offers:

  • 6500+ servers in 110+ countries
  • Highest VPN speed
  • Ad-blocker & malware protection
  • Fast P2P/BitTorrent downloads

Proton Unlimited 50% off ($4.99/m) for 12 months

Proton Unlimited is our value bundle that gives students the premium features of all our services in one easy subscription: Proton Mail, Proton Calendar, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton VPN(yeni pencere). It’s a full-service solution for every kind of online activity, making it the perfect way for a student to get to grips with managing their online lives.
